\n An unnamed player on the Boston Bruins tested positive for COVID-19, but subsequently tested negative twice all while being asymptomatic, the team announced Friday.<\/p>\n

There have now been 10 known positive coronavirus cases among NHL players since April.<\/p>\n

The Bruins\u2019 positive case comes a day after the NHL announced that Phase 3 training camps will begin on July 10, while small voluntary group workouts permitted in Phase 2 officially began Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Bruins will continue to follow CDC recommendations and adhere to the NHL\u2019s protocol,\u201d the club\u2019s statement read. \u201cAll Bruins players who have returned to this point during Phase 2 have now returned negative test results.<\/p>\n

The Bruins, in conjunction with the National Hockey League, are providing these details in an effort to be transparent and will provide no further information at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a teleconference with media<\/a> following the announcement, Bruins general<\/a> manager Don Sweeney said the player had not entered the team\u2019s practice facility when it formally opened on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cSubsequent testing from the original positive test is a requirement and continued testing for that player and all of our players is also a requirement,\u201d Sweeney said. \u201cQuarantining is also a requirement. So those players from contact tracing as well as the original positive tested player have not used the facility and they won\u2019t until they\u2019re tested next week.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Penguins announced last week that one of their players had tested positive for the coronavirus, noting that the unnamed player was not in Pittsburgh. In April, five players on Ottawa Senators and three from the Colorado Avalanche were announced to have tested positive.<\/p>\n

There is no date set yet for when Phase 4, the resumption of the game<\/a>s in \u201chub cities,\u201d will begin.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
