Denise Richards<\/strong> is saying goodbye to her dear pal and ex-boyfriend, Patrick Muldoon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As we previously reported, the 57-year-old actor died over the weekend after suffering a heart attack. Those who knew and loved him have been taking to social media<\/a> to mourn the sudden loss, including Denise. They began dating in 1998 \u2014 a year after filming Starship Troopers<\/em>. They were on-and-off for two years before breaking up for good in 2000.<\/p>\n

Despite the breakup, Patrick and Denise remained best friends, which is why she is shattered over this loss. She wrote on Instagram<\/strong> alongside videos and pictures of them together over the years:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is so hard for me to put into words. I am deeply heartbroken & devastated losing you. You were my best friend & my family. We met in our first acting class, I was 19 never had an acting job and you were 21 a student at USC doing a recurring role on who\u2019s the boss. And here we are. 36 years later. My whole adult life & I don\u2019t know it without you.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills<\/em> alum expressed her gratitude for how much Patrick has \u201cprotected\u201d her, especially amid her divorce from Aaron Phypers<\/strong>:<\/p>\n
