I first started using [them] two to three years after high school.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In the 1990s, laws around steroid use changed and he recalled there \u201cwere a bunch of controversies.\u201d At that time, in 1991, he denied using steroids \u2013 something nobody ever believed, causing a lot of backlash. He\u2019d do it different if he could:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s something that would be classified in the \u2018mistake\u2019 category. If I could relive it, I wouldn\u2019t do it again.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\" class=\"lazy-ad-parent\">\n<div id=\"section-69e90cce55185-paragraph-slot\" class=\"incontent-ad lazy-ad-slot\" data-base-div-id=\"pb-slot-incontent-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Steroids weren\u2019t the only drugs he used, though. Amid health issues, when he returned to wrestling in 2009, he said he was using a scary amount of fentanyl:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI was taking 80 milligram fentanyls, two in the morning, stuffing them under my gums\u2026I had two 300-milligram patches of fentanyl on my legs, and they gave me six 1,500 milligram fentanyl lollipops to eat.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A pharmacist told him at the time:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\" class=\"lazy-ad-parent\">\n<div id=\"section-69e90cce55188-paragraph-slot\" class=\"incontent-ad lazy-ad-slot\" data-base-div-id=\"pb-slot-incontent-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cYou should be dead\u2026..we have never seen a human being take this much fentanyl.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"highlight\">Jeez.<\/p>\n<p>Such a complex life. We\u2019re sending love to his family and friends as they continue to mourn his loss.
