\n\tThe Bachelorette <\/em>already took a break before Taylor Frankie Paul\u2019s season was shelved three days before it was set to premiere on March 22.<\/p>\n

\n\tABC and producers Warner Bros. had high hopes for the 22nd season that was set to star the breakout reality star from sibling Hulu\u2019s reality hit, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives<\/em>. The crossover casting was supposed to bring in a new audience following a ratings decline and the female-led cycle taking a season off in 2025 following Jenn Tran\u2019s 21st season.<\/p>\n

\n\tAll of that changed, of course, when the network made the decision to scrap Paul\u2019s already-filmed season entirely following the release of a damning video connected to her 2023 domestic violence arrest, and amid investigations into new claims of alleged domestic incidents involving Paul and her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. Later, in April, The Salt Lake County District Attorney\u2019s Office decided not to file charges related to the new incidents.<\/p>\n

\n\tSince The Bachelorette <\/em>was pulled, viewers and critics alike wondered if the show would ever return amid the scandal (see The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>\u2018s take: <\/em>\u201cIt\u2019s Time to End the \u2018Bachelor\u2019 Franchise\u201d), and now that charges won\u2019t be brought against Paul, questions about if ABC could revive the season are swirling again.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen speaking with THR<\/em> about Hulu and ABC\u2019s unscript<\/a>ed programming slate, Rob Mills, evp of unscripted & alternative entertainment at Walt Disney Television, answered those looming questions.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Bachelor<\/em>\u00a0franchise is not going anywhere,\u201d he said, pointing out that season 30 of The Bachelor <\/em>and the 11th season of Bachelor in Paradise<\/em> are both returning. \u201cThe Bachelor<\/em>\u00a0is back midseason, Paradise<\/em>\u00a0will be next summer. So I don\u2019t think we need to talk about something that is a year off,\u201d he said. \u201cHopefully, next year\u2019s Get Real [annual unscripted programming presentation] is where we\u2019ll be talking more about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMills said they will lean into airing whatever series<\/a> within the franchise makes sense at the time \u2014 which could mean more The Bachelor <\/em>or Golden Bachelor <\/em>seasons before another Bachelorette<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhatever the right stories are for us to tell, that\u2019s what we\u2019re going to tell,\u201d he said. \u201cI think when we have the right people to tell whatever iteration of\u00a0The Bachelor\u00a0<\/em>franchise, we\u2019re going to tell it. That also goes for the\u00a0Golden Bachelor <\/em>and whoever else\u2019s story we can tell in this incredible format.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd while Secret Lives of Mormon Wives<\/em> is resuming production on its fifth season, after a monthlong production pause while investigating the claims surrounding co-star Paul, her participation in that season remains up in the air. THR<\/em> reported that the door is open for her to return if and when she\u2019s ready, and Mills didn\u2019t totally rule out her Bachelorette<\/em> season possibly being revived.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think everything really is a day at a time,\u201d he said when asked if her season could ever see the light of day. \u201cEverything concerning Taylor, first and foremost, is that we\u2019re making sure anything she needs on a human level is taken care of, and then we can talk about anything from the show perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
