\n Not content with aiming to rewrite American history with its 1619 Project, The New York Times and project chief Nikole Hannah-Jones are now trying to rewrite the history of .\u2009.\u2009. the 1619 Project.<\/p>\n

Hannah-Jones won a Pulitzer Prize for her piece kicking off the series, which explicitly aimed to make the first slave\u2019s arrival on these shores the seminal event of US history \u2014 to paint \u201c1619 as our true founding.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOut of slavery,\u201d one Times editor explained, \u201cgrew nearly everything that has truly made America exceptional: its economic might, its industrial power, its electoral system.\u201d Even the American Revolution was fought mainly to preserve slavery.<\/p>\n

Yet now, app<\/a>arently to dodge increasing criticism from President Trump and others<\/a>, she\u2019s now insisting: \u201cThe #1619Project does not argue that 1619 is our true founding\u201d \u2014 for claims to the contrary, blame \u201cthe right.\u201d<\/p>\n

Huh? She\u2019s on the public record at plenty of appearances, such as an Ann Arbor event<\/a>, saying the project asserts \u201cour true founding is 1619 not 1776.\u201d And the 2019 print edition of the project\u2019s introduction says of the moment in 1619 when a ship with enslaved Africans arrived on our shores: \u201cAmerica was not yet America, but this was the moment it began.\u201d<\/p>\n

That line no longer appears in the online version, so the entire Times is a part of Hannah-Jones\u2019 scheme to falsify her record.<\/p>\n

This, after she\u2019s had to correct the original essay several times to retreat from its most ridiculous claims (ones her own sources, such as Northwestern black history prof Leslie M. Harris, had debunked before she went to print). The online version now says \u201csome of\u201d the founders fought to preserve slavery \u2014 which is still misleading, since virtually none of them did so.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s almost as wormy as deleting \u201cunderstanding 1619 as our true founding\u201d from the project\u2019s founding document \u2014 then pretending it was never there.<\/p>\n

Having won a Pulitzer for her first bid to fake the historic record, Hannah-Jones seems to think she can do it whenever she likes.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
