He tweeted that the product or products set to be revealed Tuesday \u201cwill not reach serious high-volume production until 2022.\u201d <\/p>\n<div data-layout=\"inline\n              \" data-layout-mobile=\"\" class=\"\n        media-object\n        type-InsetTweet\n          inline\n  article__inset\n        article__inset--type-InsetTweet\n          article__inset--inline\n  \"><\/p>\n<div class=\"dynamic-inset-container article__inset__dynamic\">\n<style>\n            iframe.twitter-tweet {\n                width: 100% !important;\n            }\n        <\/style>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\"><p>\n            <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1308148212876812289?s=20\"><\/a>\n            <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>        <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>       Wall Street seems to expect nothing less than the unveiling of technological advances that would cement Tesla\u2019s position as the leading electric vehicle-battery maker, showing strides toward lower prices and higher volumes of the costly and fundamental EV vehicle component. <\/p>\n<p>Here are three things to know about Battery Day:<\/p>\n<h6><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Another_boost_for_the_stock\"><\/span>Another boost for the stock?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h6>\n<p>Battery Day is frequently cited as the \u201cnext catalyst\u201d for Tesla\u2019s skyrocketing stock. The stock was one of a few ending Monday in the black, although it turned lower in the extended session with losses accelerating after Musk\u2019s tweet. At last check, the shares fell nearly 4% in the after hours.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, Deutsche Bank analyst Emmanuel Rosner boosted his price target on the stock by 33% to $400, citing the event. <\/p>\n<p>Rosner, who kept his rating on the shares at hold, said Tesla could unveil \u201ca new insourced manufacturing system\u201d to ramp up its battery capacity, improved cell chemistry, and \u201cfast-declining\u201d battery costs at the much-anticipated day. <\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Piper Sandler analyst Alex Potter became the second-most bullish on the Street on Tesla, raising his price target to $515 from $480 and reiterating his overweight rating he\u2019s had on the stock for at least the past three years. Potter said he now expects Tesla\u2019s energy business to eventually exceed $200 billion a year in revenue. <\/p>\n<div id=\"cx-membership-tile\"><\/div>\n<p>Tesla shares have gained more than 400% this year, compared with gains of around 3% for the S&amp;P 500 index.<br \/>\n        SPX,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210599714\/realtime\" class=\"negative\">-1.15%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n      \u00a0The company conducted a 5-for-1 stock split on Aug. 31. <\/p>\n<h6><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Battery_Day_is_taking_a_page_from_a_2019_self-driving_event\"><\/span>Battery Day is taking a page from a 2019 self-driving event<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h6>\n<p>In April 2019, Tesla held an event dedicated to its in-house driverless-car hardware and highlight the path toward fully autonomous vehicles that it promised to morph into a fleet of \u201crobotaxis.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>At the event, Tesla forecast that the robotaxis could be on the road in some locations as early as this year, one of many bold promises made that day by Musk. <\/p>\n<p>Owners of Tesla vehicles could choose to add their vehicles to the future, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>-managed fleet to defray car-ownership expenses, with Tesla taking a cut. So far, that has not materialized. <\/p>\n<h6><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Musk_may_promise_things_that_are_far_away\"><\/span>Musk may promise things that are far away<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h6>\n<p>Tesla is no stranger to lofty goals that are not always realized.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe caution investors against diving head-first into any claims that are \u2018years\u2019 away,\u201d Chris McNally at Evercore ISI said in a note this week, noting that it has been about four years since Musk made the first full self-driving claims, including a yet-to-be-started cross-country <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Instead, the focus should be on near-term performance metrics such as battery density, efficiency, and cost, which could impress Wall Street and keep Tesla at the forefront of EV battery <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a>, McNally said. <\/p>\n<p>Tesla could also reveal more about its plans for mining the metals needed for EV batteries. At a call with analysts following Tesla\u2019s second-quarter earnings in July, Musk urged more mining companies to mine for nickel, one of the metals used in batteries.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla could also lift the veil on one of its most recent acquisitions, which it has said little about. <\/p>\n<p>The company bought Maxwell Technologies Inc. in February 2019. The all-stock deal valued Maxwell at $218 million, and it was a first for Tesla after a long hiatus: the company had previously completed an acquisition in November 2017, when it bought privately held Perbix Machine Co., a Minnesota-based maker of factory automation equipment, for an undisclosed amount.
