\n Conservative: Constitution at Risk in November<\/strong><\/p>\n

Just days after Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg\u2019s death, the left is already hatching schemes to \u201cpack the court, abolish the Senate filibuster and grant statehood to Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico,\u201d all of which The Federalist\u2019s John Daniel Davidson fears<\/a> would \u201cerode the constitutional mechanisms in place that Democrats see as impediments to their complete control over the levers of government power.\u201d These \u00adattempts to \u201cwork around\u201d the politically inconvenient parts of the Founding, such as equal state representation in the Senate, indicate that \u201cthe Constitution itself is on the ballot\u201d this November. Democrats\u2019 similar \u00adefforts to secure a \u201cpermanent majority\u201d under President Barack Obama backfired when Trump took over. So we should \u201cexpect even more \u00adextreme measures\u201d under the next Democratic administration. \u201cThey might start by packing the Supreme Court, but they won\u2019t end there.\u201d<\/p>\n

From the right: Grow Up, Distraught Libs<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe cult around \u2018Notorious RBG\u2019 has displayed the emotional fragility of white liberals,\u201d snarks Daniel McCarthy at Spectator USA<\/a>. \u201cTwitter and Facebook<\/a> were flooded with emotional confessions\u201d from liberals \u201c\u200a\u2018literally shaking\u2019 or crying over\u201d the 87-year-old justice\u2019s death. They \u201cshould grow up and accept the terms\u201d of America\u2019s Constitution. \u201cDon\u2019t cry, don\u2019t riot,\u201d just \u201caccept that Donald Trump is president and Mitch McConnell is Senate majority leader, as a result of free and fair elections.\u201d The left\u2019s \u201cdreams of packing\u201d the Supreme Court won\u2019t solve anything, either: \u201cWhat Democrats pack, Republicans can pack or unpack, too.\u201d So, Dems, \u201cdeal with its realistically and not like an emotional child. Ginsburg herself, through her friendship with Justice Scalia and her support for high culture, showed how progressives should conduct themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n

Legal take: Purge This Bias From Constitution<\/strong><\/p>\n

Like several candidates in past years, Kamala Harris has been wrongly accused of being ineligible for the presidency based on the Constitution\u2019s requirement to be a \u201cnatural-born citizen,\u201d sigh law profs Michael Klein and Ilya Somin at USA Today<\/a>. \u201cBut the need to address the matter at all highlights why eligibility distinctions\u201d based on birthplace or parental status should \u201cbe abolished. That eligibility for our highest political \u00adoffice is conditioned by an invidious discrimination buried in the Constitution itself should be highly disturbing\u201d \u2014 it\u2019s \u201clittle different from discrimination based on race, ethnicity or gender.\u201d Yes, amending the Constitution would be \u201can uphill struggle.\u201d But more people may soon see \u201chow ridiculous this restriction is.\u201d Or, at least, they may tire \u201cof hearing this claptrap every four years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Faith beat: \u2018Free the Mass\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone continues \u201cto stand up to the inequitable treatment\u201d of Catholics, reports Anne Hendershott at The American Spectator<\/a>. With banners reading \u201cWe are \u00adEssential: Free the Mass!\u201d thousands marched Sunday in a \u201cEucharistic procession to City Hall to protest the religious discrimination.\u201d The city lets only one person into a church or \u00adcathedral at a time for private prayer, when retail stores open at 50 percent capacity and restaurants can serve indoors at 25 percent seating. Massive street protests are kosher, yet the city limits even outdoor Masses to 12 people, priests included. The Supreme Court has refused to slap down this discrimination, as \u201cChief Justice John Roberts sided with the liberal wing of the Court.\u201d Now \u201creligious freedom can be recovered as long as President Trump makes the wise decision in quickly app<\/a>ointing a new Justice to the Supreme Court.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ed desk: Calling Princeton\u2019s Bluff<\/strong><\/p>\n

The federal Department of Education \u201ccalled Princeton\u2019s bluff on the question of systemic racism,\u201d cheers City Journal\u2019s Seth Barron<\/a>, launching a probe after the Ivy\u2019s president admitted his campus was guilty as charged by left-wing mobs. \u201cFor too long, false confessions of racial piety have been used as a cudgel to intimidate reasonable people and transform American institutions.\u201d Now, there\u2019s a price.<\/p>\n
