Barkley seemingly heard what Joe Judge had said hours earlier, when the Giants first-year head coach told reporters, \u201cI wouldn\u2019t fall asleep on (No.) 26. It\u2019s going to be a helluva story.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

It usually takes about a year for athletes to recover from an ACL tear, though fellow high-profile running back Adrian Peterson returned from an ACL and MCL tear within eight months to win MVP in 2012.<\/p>\n

The face of the Giants, Barkley struggled behind a weak offensive line in Week 1 when he ran for 6 yards on 15 carries. He had 28 yards on four carries Sunday before falling awkwardly following a clean tackle.<\/p>\n
