An update for the short yuri anime<\/a> Let Me Fix You\u00a0<\/i>(Kimi wo Tsumugu<\/i>), an adaptation of the dojin manga by Sakura Kurihara<\/strong>, reveals that it will now be released in mid-June. It was previously announced that it would not premiere in this month as originally planned, following allegations of grooming against the then-animation production studio Buta Production\u2019s CEO, Federico Antonio Russo<\/b> (FAR).<\/span><\/p>\n

While Let Me Fix You\u00a0<\/i>will still see the light of day, the situation, which saw Buta Productions staff leaving the studio and reforming as the \u201cinformal entity\u201d Ponbleu<\/strong>, have affected its future plans. \u201cWhile the current scope of the project is secure, the future beyond that remains uncertain,\u201d reads the post. \u201cAs mentioned in our last statement, the project was originally intended to be much bigger than what has been announced so far and will be released in June.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDue to the circumstances, we have had to adjust the plans for everything beyond that until we find a new studio that is willing to take on the project with us. We\u2019d like to take you along on this journey, though, and we\u2019d be thrilled if you\u2019d continue to support Chise and Tsumugi.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The previously announced staff for Let Me Fix You\u00a0<\/i>includes badbrix\u00a0<\/strong>as in-between checker and color designer, Kam\u2019 kamon\u00a0<\/strong>as b<\/span>ackground art director, and Xaryen\u00a0<\/strong>as d<\/span>irector of photography. Russo, who deactivated their X account after the allegations surfaced, was attached as animation producer at the time.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Buta Productions situation began to unfold on May 2, when X\/Twitter<\/a> user Maryco (@Maryco02_<\/a>) made a now-deleted post accusing Russo of grooming them since 2021, with their respective alleged ages at the time being 14 and 23. The post also linked to a 33-page PDF, containing screenshots of online conversations and descript<\/a>ions of the situation, that Maryco described as \u201cjust the tip of something that lasted more than 4 years.\u201d Following the allegations, compositor\u00a0May Yamada<\/b> said on X that \u201cEverybody associated with ButaPro has immediately left the studio.\u201d Ponbleu\u2019s establishment was announced on May 5.<\/span><\/p>\n

While the Buta Productions X account has not posted anything on the allegations at the time of writing, a party using the studio\u2019s name told Anime News Network <\/a>that Let Me Fix You\u00a0<\/i>was still being made, and that \u201cI will be involved as less [sic] as possible\u201d (Anime News<\/a> Network says that the replies they received were in first-person). The party was also reported as saying that\u00a0\u201c\u2019my legal team is analyzing the situation with the intention of suing the person who made these defamatory accusations\u2019\u201d and called the allegations against Russo \u201c\u2019partial, misleading and malicious.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ponbleu\u2019s first (and currently only) statement, which came hours after the publication of the article, said that it stood \u201cwith the victim\u201d and that \u201cButaPro\u2019s statements to the media on this matter do not reflect our thoughts and opinions on the matter.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

On May 7, after a period in which their account was deactivated, Maryco announced that they were retracting their accusations against Russo, saying that \u201cInvoluntarily, I ended up embellishing, warping details of my narration as well as adding totally incorrect information.\u201d Maryco added that \u201cI\u2019d like to apologise to all parties I\u2019ve caused confusion and damages and I sincerely hope everyone can move on from this commotion.\u201d <\/span>The post containing the allegation and the link to the PDF has been deleted.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to international law firm Arnone & Sicomo<\/a>, in Italy, where Maryco\u2019s X account shows them to be located. \u201cThe truth of the statement does not exclude defamation.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
