Hayden didn\u2019t hold back, and now Brian is sharing his thoughts.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\" class=\"lazy-ad-parent\">\n<div id=\"section-6a03cd62b7897-paragraph-slot\" class=\"incontent-ad lazy-ad-slot\" data-base-div-id=\"pb-slot-incontent-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>During a video interview with <em>TMZ<\/em>\u2019s <strong>Charlie Neff<\/strong>\u00a0on Tuesday, the <em>M.F.A.<\/em> actor reacted to Hayden\u2019s characterization of him and their relationship in the memoir:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI think it speaks for itself. I got arrested for abusing her, and I wouldn\u2019t blame her friends for being pissed off at me. I don\u2019t really have much to say on that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Related: James Van Der Beek\u2019s Wife Kimberly Remembers Him On 3-Month Anniversary Of His Death: \u2018I Feel Him\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\" class=\"lazy-ad-parent\">\n<div id=\"section-6a03cd62b789c-paragraph-slot\" class=\"incontent-ad lazy-ad-slot\" data-base-div-id=\"pb-slot-incontent-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Brian spoke on the 2020 abuse incident for which he was arrested in Wyoming:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI had a lot to drink and I got physical with her, and I got arrested, spent the night in jail. That\u2019s just what h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ens when you lay hands on women.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He went on to talk about trying to understand the relationship from her point of view, and how the two had discussions about his abuse on multiple occasions:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\" class=\"lazy-ad-parent\">\n<div id=\"section-6a03cd62b789f-paragraph-slot\" class=\"incontent-ad lazy-ad-slot\" data-base-div-id=\"pb-slot-incontent-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe had been together for eight years. That\u2019s a topic of conversation that came up a lot, so I had a couple opportunities to apologize for it and reflect on it \u2026 You never lay hands on a woman, bottom line.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He also confirmed he talked to Hayden as recently as the day before his interview:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe conversation was about the book and she was worried about it \u2014 it\u2019s her first book, who wouldn\u2019t be nervous about it? The only thing I said to her, I was like, \u2018Look, dude, you\u2019ve got one of the craziest stories I\u2019ve ever heard in my life and when people read it, it\u2019s going to be a hit.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\" class=\"lazy-ad-parent\">\n<div id=\"section-6a03cd62b78a1-paragraph-slot\" class=\"incontent-ad lazy-ad-slot\" data-base-div-id=\"pb-slot-incontent-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>As for where their relationship stands now, he revealed:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cOur relationship right now is just a mutual respect thing. She\u2019ll always hold a special place in my heart, and I hope the same for her. But yeah, we\u2019re just good buddies.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Brian noted he\u2019s been working on himself in an AA group with<strong> Shia LaBeouf<\/strong> and daydreams about marriage with Hayden, but doubts they will ever get back together:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\" class=\"lazy-ad-parent\">\n<div id=\"section-6a03cd62b78a3-paragraph-slot\" class=\"incontent-ad lazy-ad-slot\" data-base-div-id=\"pb-slot-incontent-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI hope so. She probably doesn\u2019t think the same \u2026 I think that Hayden is one of the most talented people I\u2019ve ever met in my life and I would be an idiot not to walk away from her and let her flourish in her career. We probably wouldn\u2019t be good together. I\u2019d like to see what she\u2019s going to do with the next 30 years of her career.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He also noted she \u201cabsolutely\u201d deserves better than him.<\/p>\n<p>As for his thoughts on his chapter in the memoir, Brian dished:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\" class=\"lazy-ad-parent\">\n<div id=\"section-6a03cd62b78a5-paragraph-slot\" class=\"incontent-ad lazy-ad-slot\" data-base-div-id=\"pb-slot-incontent-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cHayden\u2019s book is incredible \u2026 I think everyone should read it. I mean, the domestic violence stuff \u2026 my chapter \u2026 everybody should read it \u2026 Who wants to read something about themselves like that, right? But you\u2019ve got to be vulnerable.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He also alluded to the fact that it could potentially an \u201cimportant\u201d read for other abusers to help prevent further abuse:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s more important for abusers [to read this book]. My biggest thing about domestic violence is I don\u2019t think it is caught early enough in life. Never in my life did I ever get called what domestic violence was.
