One can get lost in its twists, turns, and trapdoors, when moments of dense noise suddenly pivot into soft ambiance \u2014 before another hard techno scrape suddenly digs into your cranium.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            Safety Trance&#8217;s Luis Garban, the Venezuela-born, Barcelona-based musical mad scientist who also releases music as Cardopusher, has made a name for himself as an electronic musician blurring the line between the sacred and profane. His music combines elements of reggaeton, Witchhouse, and experimental noise to create chaos that transcends.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            All of that can be felt on Garban&#8217;s latest album, <i>sacrificio<\/i>, which features many of music&#8217;s most artfully riotous artists: Six Sex, Eartheater, Sega Bodega, longtime collaborator Arca, among others.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            &#8220;The first Safety Trance\u2013related productions were [when I worked] with Arca on &#8216;<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=w8x1eDbVG3c\">Prada<\/a>,&#8217; &#8216;<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NL-tvd8jeBc\">Rakata<\/a>,&#8217; and also &#8216;<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Jgx5buYv9kc\">KLK<\/a>&#8216; with Arca and Rosal\u00eda, which is kind of a wild way to start a new chapter,&#8221; Safety Trance tells The FADER. I started playing in bands with friends, just figuring things out. Then I got into music software and things clicked. But the real turning point was discovering Aphex Twin through Warp, and then going deeper into Rephlex. That\u2019s when it stopped feeling like a hobby and became something I wanted to take seriously.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            <b>What\u2019s the first set you ever played?<\/b>\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            2004, Caracas at CELARG, which is this cultural institution focused on Latin American thought. It wasn\u2019t a club, which made it even stranger. I still remember it vividly. There\u2019s actually some footage on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a>. I looked completely different, obviously.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            <b>What\u2019s the first track you ever produced?<\/b>\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            I honestly don\u2019t remember the exact first one, but my earliest stuff was part of a demo called Life Is Peachy that I self-released on CD-R in 2004 under Cardopusher. It\u2019s very naive, you can hear me learning in real time. It\u2019s been floating around Soulseek forever.\n          <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>\n            <b>What artists inspire you?<\/b>\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            It\u2019s a long list, but some core ones are V\/Vm, Korn, The Noise, Venetian Snares, Eddie Palmieri, Julee Cruise, Dean Blunt, Kid606, Fant\u00f4mas. It\u2019s all over the place, but that\u2019s the point.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            <b>How has your local scene shaped your mixing and artistry?<\/b>\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            A lot. I\u2019ve been in Barcelona since 2008 and I\u2019ve seen different versions of the city, different scenes, different people, different energies. Things come and go fast. If you\u2019re paying attention to what\u2019s happening around you, it inevitably seeps into your work.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            <b>What\u2019s the most memorable set you\u2019ve ever played?<\/b>\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            Opening for Aphex Twin at S\u00f3nar 2024. That was surreal. Full circle moment.\n          <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>\n            <b>What excites you about the future of nightlife and electronic music?<\/b>\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            Not knowing what\u2019s coming next. I don\u2019t want to predict it, I wanna be surprised.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            <b>What DJ trend needs to die?<\/b>\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            Technogym DJs.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            <b>How would you describe your FADER mix?<\/b>\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            Eclectic, noisy, but still emotional. Describe your surroundings.<\/b>\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            At my home studio in Gr\u00e0cia, Barcelona. It\u2019s pretty low-key, records everywhere, a few synths, books. Nothing too fancy. Just a functional space.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            <b>Beyond DJing and music, what&#8217;s an interest you have that may surprise people?<\/b>\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            I live pretty quietly. I\u2019m not constantly going out perhaps because i have been spending too much time at clubs.
