Actor Kit Harington, who famously played \u201cGame<\/a> of Thrones\u201d protagonist Jon Snow for nearly a decade, is not interested in playing those roles anymore.<\/p>\n

In an interview with the Telegraph, he explained why he\u2019s not interested in portraying the male \u201chero\u201d on-screen these days.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel that emotionally men have a problem, a blockage, and that blockage has come from the Second World War, passed down from grandfather to father to son,\u201d Harington, 33, told the British newspaper<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe do not speak about how we feel because it shows weakness, because it is not masculine. Having portrayed a man who was silent, who was heroic, I feel going forward that is a role I don\u2019t want to play anymore,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is not a masculine role that the world needs to see much more of,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The character Jon Snow has qualities of a classic hero: righteous, courageous and stoic. Harington said that he intends to move on from such roles, in search of more complex men to play on-screen \u2014 ones more like himself, although he said he had contributed \u201ca certain self-reflective, introverted broodiness\u201d to Snow\u2019s personality.<\/p>\n

The British actor also opened up about his \u201cgender fluid\u201d childhood, sharing how his mother, former playwright Deborah Jane Catesby, guided her sons on issues of gender politics.<\/p>\n

\u201cI asked for a Mighty Max, and she bought me a Polly Pocket,\u201d Harington said. \u201cI asked for an Action Man, and I got a doll \u2014 it was very gender fluid from the word go. And I went with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harington can currently be seen guest-starring in the Netflix police drama series \u201cCriminal,\u201d now in its second season. He\u2019ll also app<\/a>ear in the new Marvel flick \u201cThe Eternals,\u201d alongside Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani and Richard Madden (Robb Stark in \u201cGoT\u201d), scheduled for release next year.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
