\u201cIlluminate,&#8221; she knew it had to be hers. The Palestinian-Chilean singer was at a studio session with her brother <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/fairdose\/\">Feras<\/a> and producer Cirkut and remember im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely falling in love with the energizing pop banger. \u201cI recorded it that same day,\u201d Elyanna tells The FADER over a video call from L.A.\n          <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>\n            \u201cIlluminate\u201d is the fourth single of the forthcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup soundtrack. The three-minute track, which also features R&amp;B singer and Toronto native Jessie Reyez, sees both Elyanna\u2019s Palestinian and Reyez\u2019s Colombian roots taking center stage. As Elyanna seamlessly flows from English to Arabic (her longtime collaborator, Massari, and mother co-wrote the Arabic lyrics), the singer is seen in the music video grooving while dressed in henna, Palestinian coins, and floor-grazing, netted headpieces.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            A lot is riding on Elyanna. She\u2019s the only artist on FIFA\u2019s soundtrack \u2014 which also taps <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reels\/DYCxnloBnNL\/\">Shakira and Burna Boy<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DXrZYZmlurK\/\">Daddy Yankee and Shenseea<\/a>, and a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reels\/DYTgzChK5_t\/\">halftime<\/a> performance with BTS and Madonna \u2014 to hail from the MENA, or Middle East and North Africa, region. But it\u2019s not the first time the Nazareth-born musician has repped her heritage on a global stage. In 2023, she became the first singer to perform a set entirely in Arabic at Coachella, and in 2025, opened for Coldplay on tour.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            At the time of our chat, the pop sensation is handling the pressure with cool and excitement. \u201cAs a Palestinian-Chilean, we really love [soccer],\u201d she says. \u201cWhenever it\u2019s on, everything [around us] stops. So this is unreal.\u201d Ahead, Elyanna talks about making \u201cIlluminate\u201d and representing her Palestinian roots at the 2026 World Cup. We also did so with our costumes. My look had traditional coins, henna, and all the little details. We wanted it to feel natural. What\u2019s so fun about it is that in the video, it really was a fun cultural party. We had the best time.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            <b>What does \u201cilluminate\u201d mean to you?<\/b>\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            \u201cIlluminate\u201d feels like a connection. Illuminate means to shine within. And when you shine within, your mind is open to explore and learn about new things. It&#8217;s the only way for people from different backgrounds to connect \u2014 by shining and being curious to connect with others. So, I feel like that&#8217;s what \u201cIlluminate\u201d is.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            In the song, I sing in Arabic, \u201cLet me hear your voice, the best in the world \/ Shout out to the champions.\u201d I want that welcoming feeling for everybody, but especially for those from the MENA region \u2014 the North Africans, the Arabs \u2014 who were able to make it to FIFA. It\u2019s made for people to feel welcomed and proud of where they come from.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            <b>What was it like working with the children from <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.healpalestine.org\/\">HEAL Palestine<\/a> in the music video? What does it mean to represent Palestine at a major event like the World Cup?<br \/><\/b><br \/>We shot this video in L.A., so there wasn\u2019t a chance for all of us to be together. I can\u2019t wait to see everybody when we perform the song in Canada. I want to see my people there. I can\u2019t wait to see the kids [from <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.healpalestine.org\/\">HEAL Palestine<\/a>] and give them gifts. In Palestine, I grew up seeing kids playing soccer \u2014 they play in the streets, in the schools, everywhere.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            So, to see Palestinian representation at an event like the World Cup is something I\u2019m very proud and excited about. It\u2019s what excites me most about this [project]. It\u2019s just us and the culture moving forward. Of course, the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a> is fun to watch, but there\u2019s a certain energy when people watch it. You feel the connection between everyone when they\u2019re all rooting for one thing. It\u2019s so powerful. There\u2019s so much power when we\u2019re all uniting to support a team.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            I remember being in Chile once during the World Cup. It was lit \u2014 you\u2019d go to the supermarket and see flags plastered everywhere to show support. Even in Nazareth, people would just turn on a projector for everybody to watch the game. I\u2019m devastated Chile isn\u2019t playing this year, but I\u2019m still rooting for my MENA teams.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            <b>What\u2019s your favorite past World Cup anthem?<\/b>\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            I love <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WTJSt4wP2ME\">\u201cWavin\u2019 Flags\u201d by K\u2019NAAN<\/a>.
