Police reportedly arrived within minutes after receiving an emergency call that he\u2019d gone missing, and immediately began a massive search operation in the area. Because Aazam was autistic and nonverbal, officials issued a <strong>Golden Alert<\/strong> as concern quickly escalated throughout the neighborhood.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\" class=\"lazy-ad-parent\">\n<div id=\"section-6a0c4439efd56-paragraph-slot\" class=\"incontent-ad lazy-ad-slot\" data-base-div-id=\"pb-slot-incontent-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>And this wasn\u2019t some small search effort, either. Nearly 100 neighbors joined in trying to locate the little boy, per <em>People<\/em> and others. Police units, K9 teams, drones, helicopters, and volunteers all reportedly combed through the neighborhood hoping to bring him home safely.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, just before midnight, officers located Aazam in a nearby pool. He was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Louisville Metro Police Department<\/strong> acknowledged the unimaginable tragedy in a statement released to <em>WHAS News<\/em> and others:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\" class=\"lazy-ad-parent\">\n<div id=\"section-6a0c4439efd58-paragraph-slot\" class=\"incontent-ad lazy-ad-slot\" data-base-div-id=\"pb-slot-incontent-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThis is a heartbreaking loss. There are no words that can ease the pain of losing a child.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Absolutely gut-wrenching.<\/p>\n<p>One longtime neighbor, <strong>Mark Domeck<\/strong>, described to local Louisville-area <strong>NBC<\/strong> affiliate <em>WAVE<\/em> and <strong>Fox<\/strong> affiliate <em>WDRB<\/em> how quickly community members sprang into action once word spread that the child was missing. Organizations focused on autism awareness also say that some children may leave safe environments because they\u2019re attempting to escape overwhelming sensory situations or because they\u2019re drawn toward something that captures their attention. Unfortunately, it\u2019s a terrifying reality many families face every single day.<\/p>\n<p>At this time, authorities say the investigation into Aazam\u2019s death remains ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>Such a painful and heartbreaking loss.
