The intelligence obtained as part of that takedown helped law enforcement across the globe identify numerous dark web drug traffickers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOperation DisrupTor actions have resulted in the arrest of 179 Darknet drug traffickers and fraudulent criminals who engaged in tens of thousands of sales of illicit goods and services across the United States and Europe,\u201d a DOJ press release states.<\/p>\n<p>Lead by the DOJ\u2019s Joint Criminal Opioid and Darknet Enforcement (JCODE) team and the European Union\u2019s (EU) law enforcement agency Europol, Operation DisrupTor was able to seize not only drugs and cash, but firearms as well.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">ONCE UPON A TIME ON THE DARK WEB\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Police authorities from 9 countries set out on a journey to catch cybercriminals coordinated by <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Europol?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Europol<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Eurojust?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Eurojust<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>179 vendors were arrested.<br \/>$6.5m and 500kg of drugs were seized.<\/p>\n<p>Want to know the whole story? <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6H4ErdGieP\">https:\/\/t.co\/6H4ErdGieP<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/1ci8rz5ZUT\">pic.twitter.com\/1ci8rz5ZUT<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Europol (@Europol) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Europol\/status\/1308390752452476929?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 22, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis operation resulted in the seizure of over $6.5 million in both cash and virtual currencies; <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roximately 500 kilograms of drugs worldwide; 274 kilograms of drugs, including fentanyl, oxycodone, hydrocodone, methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, MDMA, and medicine containing addictive substances in the United States; and 63 firearms,\u201d the DOJ said. <\/p>\n<p>In total, 121 arrests were made by the U.S., which included two individuals from Canada. Officials in Germany arrested 42, while the Netherlands was able to arrest another eight. The United Kingdom saw four arrests, Austria three, and one in Sweden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCriminals selling fentanyl on the Darknet should pay attention to Operation DisrupTor,\u201d said Deputy Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> Jeffrey Rosen.\u00a0 \u201cThe arrest of 179 of them in seven countries\u2014with the seizure of their drug supplies and their money as well\u2014shows that there will be no safe haven for drug dealing in cyberspace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But not everyone believes the operation was that significant.
