Ra\u00fal Castro<\/strong> has been charged with murder 30 YEARS after the US says he took the lives of Americans.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the former dictator of Cuba was indicted, alongside five other Cuban nationals, by the United States Justice Department<\/strong> in connection with a disastrous incident that claimed the lives of multiple US citizens long ago.<\/p>\n

On February 24, 1996, two planes operated by Brothers to the Rescue<\/strong>, a Miami-based nonprofit serving the purpose of rescuing Cuban refugees, was shot down by a Cuban MiG-29 fighter jet, killing four people. Three of which were Americans, and one was a US resident. Fast forward 30 years, and the US is holding powers at be accountable.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, acting Attorney General<\/a> Todd Blanche<\/strong> revealed in a statement:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe United States government has not forgotten these innocent men who were shot out of the sky. Nations and their leaders cannot be permitted to target Americans, kill them and not face accountability. President Trump<\/strong> has committed to restoring a very simple but important principle: if you kill Americans, we will pursue you no matter who you are, no matter what title you hold and in this case, no matter how much time has passed.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Also included in the indictment were Lorenzo Alberto Perez-Perez<\/strong>, who was first charged over two decades ago in connection with the 1996 catastrophe, and Luis Raul Gonzalez\u2011Pardo Rodriguez<\/strong>, and others.<\/p>\n

According to Blanceh, there is currently a warrant out for Castro\u2019s arrest, but the expectation is low for him to come to the US. He was officially charged with One count of conspiracy to kill US nationals and Four individual counts of murder.<\/p>\n

On X<\/strong> (Twitter<\/a><\/strong>), current Cuban dictator Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel Berm\u00fadez<\/strong> reacted to the news<\/a>:<\/p>\n

This is a political maneuver, devoid of any legal foundation, aimed solely at padding the fabricated dossier they use to justify the folly of a military aggression against #Cuba.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
