\n\tDistributor 1-2 Special has acquired all North American rights to La Gradiva<\/em>, the debut feature from French filmmaker and cinematographer Marine Atlan, which won best film at this year\u2019s Cannes Critics\u2019 Week. A theatrical release is planned, with dates to be announced.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film follows a group of high school students on a class trip<\/a> to Naples who, amid the ruins of Pompeii, are overtaken by surges of desire, anger, and despair. Atlan co-wrote the script<\/a> with Anne Brouillet and also served as cinematographer alongside Pierre Mazoyer.<\/p>\n

\n\tBefore moving to directing, Atlan built her career behind the camera on films including Jessica Forever<\/em>, The Rapture<\/em>, Summer Scars<\/em>, and Queens of Drama<\/em>. Her cinematography on The Girl in the Snow<\/em> earned a C\u00e9sar nomination, and her short films have screened at the Berlinale, Clermont-Ferrand, and Brive festivals. The La Gradiva<\/em> script was awarded the Fondation GAN Grand Prize in 2024.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn his review for The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> Jordan Mintzer called La Gradiva<\/em> a \u201cstunning debut\u201d that depicts French teens \u201cin the throes of art, angst and ecstasy with a rare emotional honesty.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLa Gradiva<\/em> was produced by In\u00e8s Da\u00efen Dasi of Les Films du Poisson, with Angelo Barbagallo as co-producer and Ya\u00ebl Fogiel and Laetitia Gonzalez as associate producers. The deal was negotiated by mk2 on behalf of the filmmakers.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
