A recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and the National Medal of Arts, and an inductee of the Television Academy Hall of Fame, the veteran actress shares, with the late Cloris Leachman, the record for most Emmy wins for acting \u2014\u00a0eight, spread between the unforgettable TV comedy <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> <em>Seinfeld<\/em>, <em>The New Adventures of Old Christine<\/em> and <em>Veep<\/em> \u2014\u00a0with another three for producing.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" id=\"pmc-protected-embed-2\" class=\"pmc-protected-embed\" width=\"100%\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/playlist.megaphone.fm?e=PMC7509102985\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tBut, interestingly enough, what brought her to this year\u2019s Cannes Film Festival \u2014 where she visited Meta House to record an episode of <em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>\u2019s <em>Awards Chatter<\/em> podcast in front of an audience of festivalgoers \u2014\u00a0was the world premiere of a deeply moving <em>dramedy<\/em>: <em>Tangles<\/em>, Leah Nelson\u2019s animated feature directorial debut, which was adapted from Sarah Leavitt\u2019s 2010 graphic memoir of the same name. A performative streak in elementary, middle and high school led to the study and practice of theater at Northwestern \u2014\u00a0but she left school after three years because she was offered a job on <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em>, becoming, at just 21, its youngest female cast member to date. She did not enjoy her three years on the show (1982-85), but bonded, during her third year, with an equally unh<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>y new writer there: Larry David.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tNot long after, David and Jerry Seinfeld co-created a sitcom that was initially called <em>The Seinfeld Chronicles<\/em>, and did not feature a female star, when it debuted on NBC in 1989. At the insistence of the network, such a character was added, and Louis-Dreyfus, at David\u2019s urging, was cast in the part of Elaine Benes. It quickly became clear to her \u2014\u00a0if not quite as quickly to audiences, who took a while before embracing the show \u2014\u00a0that <em>Seinfeld<\/em>, as it was renamed, was something special. \u201cThe comedies on television had a familiar rhythm to them,\u201d she recalled. \u201cThis show did not. This show was sort of almost an anti-joke in a way. I recognized the difference on the page, and I thought, \u2018Wow, this is wild. She appeared in two more network comedies, <em>Watching Ellie<\/em> (2002-03) and <em>The New Adventures of Old Christine<\/em> (2006-10), before moving over to cable with HBO\u2019s <em>Veep<\/em> (2012-19), Armando Iannucci\u2019s send-up of a female vice president of the United States. She recalls thinking, \u201cThe idea of a vice president is so delicious because you\u2019ve made it \u2026 but you <em>haven\u2019t<\/em> made it!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tLouis-Dreyfus, who grew up partly in Washington D.C., also saw interesting parallels between D.C. and Hollywood: \u201cIn politics and in show business, you\u2019re selling a brand. The brand is yourself and you\u2019re trying to stay relevant as time goes on. For example, I\u2019m here with you right now trying to stay relevant. And in politics, exactly the same is true. It was sent to Louis-Dreyfus by Lauren Miller Rogen, the producer and wife of Seth who has become an Alzheimer\u2019s disease activist, and struck a personal chord with her. \u201cThere\u2019s Alzheimer\u2019s in my family,\u201d she explained. \u201cMy grandmother died of it and my mother-in-law is currently suffering with it, and I understand the disease well, and the toll that the disease can take on a family. I\u2019m living that as we speak. I was im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely intrigued by this project too because it was based on this extraordinary graphic novel, and the idea of tackling this subject through animation geared towards adults was so intriguing to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe film deals with heavy subject matter but manages to retain a sense of humor, as well. \u201cUltimately,\u201d Louis-Dreyfus argues, \u201cthis movie is about communication and being in community and the value of family. All of that is sorely needed right now, certainly in our country, and globally, you could argue.
