\/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>SpaceX\u2019s Starship 12 rocket had a successful launch Friday night, before its suborbital test run around the Earth concluded with a stunning fireball explosion as it splashed down in the Indian Ocean.<\/p>\n<p>The rocket\u2019s launch \u2014 the largest and most powerful of its kind \u2014 took place at around 6:30 p.m. EST and the 66-minute test flight was deemed a success by SpaceX.<\/p>\n<p>A launch was aborted Thursday night due to problems with the temperature of the propellants inside the tanks.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image rel=\"noopener\">youtube<\/a><\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>SpaceX confirmed that Friday\u2019s fireball eruption was planned since they don\u2019t plan on reutilizing the experimental spacecraft.<\/p>\n<p>During it\u2019s more than hour-long mission, the rocket didn\u2019t go into full orbit and was a pivotal step in testing how new hardware within Starship fares under real flight conditions, SpaceX said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image contained two key features \u2014 the \u2018Super Heavy\u2019 bottom booster stage with 33 powerful engines and the Starship, which is the upper part of the spacecraft above the booster that has its own engines.<\/p>\n<p>A few minutes after launch, the \u2018Super Heavy\u2019 booster separated and conducted a \u2018boostback\u2019 burn to slow down before splashing down in the Gulf of America \u2014 unlike previous missions that attempted landing back at the launch site.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the upper Starship spacecraft continued into space and released 22 fake Starlink satellites 20 third version of Starship to launch astronauts to the moon and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>The launch cost Starship one of its six new \u2018Raptor\u2019 engines and was forced to burn the remaining five engines longer to compensate.<\/p>\n<p>During the flight, SpaceX noted that a scheduled restart of one of the spacecraft\u2019s engines was aborted due to the loss of one of the engines.<\/p>\n<figure stress.
