The upcoming Though I Am an Inept Villainess<\/em> TV anime<\/a> has gotten a main visual. It was also announced that it would begin airing on July 12 at 11:45 PM JST.<\/span><\/p>\n

Though I Am an Inept Villainess\u00a0<\/em>(Futsutsuka na Akujo dewa Gozaimasuga ~ Sugu Choso Torikae den~<\/em>), which was previously planned to begin airing in April, is based on a light novel series<\/a> written by Satsuki Nakamura<\/strong>\u00a0and illustrated by\u00a0Kana Yuki<\/strong>. Seven Seas Entertainment describes the books\u2019 synopsis as such:<\/span><\/p>\n

In the Kingdom of Ei, five clans put forth their maidens as imperial consorts\u2014but only one will be crowned empress. Just when frail and beautiful \u201ccourt butterfly\u201d Kou Reirin seems poised to marry the crown prince, jealous \u201ccourt rat\u201d Shu Keigetsu steals her body! Reirin wakes up in the dungeons as the conspirator, and things look dire\u2026or do they? Now that she\u2019s got a robust new body, not even the looming threat of execution can stop her!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Mitsue Yamazaki<\/strong>\u00a0(Zenshu<\/em>,\u00a0Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle<\/i>) is directing the anime at Doga Kobo <\/strong>with Sumie Noro<\/strong> as assistant director, Yoshiko Nakamura<\/strong>\u00a0(RPG Real Estate<\/em>) as series composer and Ai Kikuchi<\/strong>\u00a0(Shikimori\u2019s Not Just A Cutie<\/em>) as character designer. Manaka Iwami <\/strong>is Kou Reirin, while Natsumi Kawaida<\/strong> voices Shu Keigetsu.<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Though I Am an Inept Villainess<\/em> light novel series began in 2020 and has 12 volumes as of March 2026. The books are published under the Ichijinsha Novels label\/imprint.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Though I Am an Inept Villainess<\/em>\u00a0also has a manga by\u00a0Ei Ohitsuji<\/strong>, who is credited as original character design on the anime alongside Yuki.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
