“#\u2018Harry Potter\u2019 fans removing tattoos after J.K. Rowling\u2019s trans comments<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n These \u201cHarry Potter\u201d tattoos have lost their magic.<\/p>\n

Die-hard adult fans of the fantasy wizard franchise are rushing to rid themselves of their now-tainted ink in light of recent cringe-inducing comments made by J.K. Rowling about trans issues.<\/p>\n

The author came under fire again this week for tweets insisting that \u201csex is real\u201d and then publishing a lengthy \u2014 and controversial \u2014 personal essay doubling down on her views. The remarks left trans people and supporters incensed and wanting to de-Potter their lives. Rowling even called out some of the Potter purgers in her essay, saying that many had called \u201cfor my books to be burned, although one particularly abusive man told me he\u2019d composted them.\u201d<\/p>\n

But some went a step further, taking measures to cover or completely remove via lasers their Harry Potter-inspired tattoos in the fallout.<\/p>\n

Brooklyn resident Bria Noone, who was \u201cobsessed\u201d with \u201cHarry Potter\u201d for most of her childhood and adult life, decided to part ways with her \u201cDeathly Hallows\u201d symbol chest tattoo \u2014\u00a0which app<\/a>ears in the seventh book of the series<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The tattoo was a nod to the J.K. Rowling books, Noone loved but doesn\u2019t support any more.<\/span>Noone<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

She also plans to remove the \u201cMischief Managed\u201d script underneath, a phrase characters in the novels use to activate a special map.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like \u2018Oh God, alright, I need to get this off my body,\u2019\u2009\u201d Noone, 23, told The Post. \u201cAs a lifetime fan and somebody who was influenced so positively by her work, I\u2019m shocked and disgusted that this is what it\u2019s come to.\u201d<\/p>\n

The service industry worker, who got the tattoos four years ago, is planning to remove the 6-by-6-inch geometric design and script altogether, since covering it up would be too intensive.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s such a large, black ink tattoo that getting it covered would mean an even larger, even darker tattoo and I don\u2019t want to do that because it\u2019s such a sensitive area,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

A laser removal specialist estimated the cost to be about $800 at the least.<\/p>\n

But the price won\u2019t change her mind.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe pulled the wool over our eyes for long enough,\u201d said Noone. \u201cThis [Harry Potter] community is definitely very diverse and she basically spoke out against her entire community \u2014 it was like a slap in the face.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jordan Gerdes has a 3-inch \u201cDeathly Hallows\u201d symbol inked on his right foot. A life-long lover of \u201cHarry Potter,\u201d the 29-year-old tried, at first, to justify her statements online.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust like when any other celebrity says some off-the-wall

\ns\u2009-\u2009-\u2009t, you try to give them the benefit of the doubt for as long as you can,\u201d said Gerdes, of central Oregon.<\/p>\n

But when her essay went live Wednesday, he knew the tat had to go.<\/p>\n

\u201cFinally, I just thought \u2018Alright, cool, I\u2019m done trying to . . . do the mental gymnastics to give her the benefit of doubt,\u201d he said. \u201cJ.K Rowling is a disgusting, bigoted person that I have no reason to find joy in her writing any longer.\u201d<\/p>\n

He now plans to cover it with another tattoo soon, and is taking suggestions on Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For Noone, de-Pottering is a lot more than just removing a tattoo. She\u2019s tempted to trash her custom-made Marauder\u2019s Map rug, Harry Potter T-shirts and special cardigans from Universal\u2019s \u201cWizarding World of Harry Potter\u201d theme park, too. The theme park issued a statement following Rowling\u2019s comments, saying \u201cour core values include diversity, inclusion and respect.\u201d<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s saying goodbye for good to the books and movies that\u2019s the most difficult.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery time I see the books or the movies, I\u2019m always going to be like, \u2018J.K. Rowling sucks,\u2019\u2009\u201d said Noone. \u201cIt\u2019s definitely going to be an adjustment and I don\u2019t think I\u2019m going to love it as hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dozens of other Potter heads took to Twitter to vent about what to do with their tats.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a Harry Potter tattoo in my f\u2009-\u2009-\u2009king elbow pit (very painful) and I am about to get it covered up because she might be the densest f\u2009-\u2009-\u2009king person I\u2019ve ever seen,\u201d tweeted Seth Decker. \u201cGender does not equal sex.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jury\u2019s still out on if Pete Davidson will part with his myriad of \u201cHarry Potter\u201d ink.<\/p>\n
