Grant, Claire Foy, Bel Powley and Jack Farthing, is also among the headliner premieres of this year\u2019s SXSW London, along with an exclusive first-look screening of the first two episodes of Adult Swim animated <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a>\u00a0<em>Get Jiro<\/em>, based on the DC\/Vertigo graphic novel from Anthony Bourdain and starring the voice of Brian Tee (<em>A House of Dynamite<\/em>), which is set in a not-too-distant future Los Angeles where master chefs rule the town and people literally kill for a seat at the best restaurants.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAmong international features getting their U.K. premiere at SXSW London are\u00a0<em>The Other Side of the Sun<\/em>, directed by Tawfik\u00a0Sabouni,\u00a0Juan Pablo\u00a0Sallato\u2018s\u00a0<em>The Red Hangar<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Roya<\/em>\u00a0by\u00a0director Mahnaz\u00a0Mohammadi, Vladlena Sandu\u2019s <em>Memory<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Remake<\/em>\u00a0from director\u00a0Ross McElwee, and\u00a0<em>Only Rebels Win<\/em>\u00a0by\u00a0director Danielle Arbid. SXSW London is owned and produced by Panarise, which operates under license from SXSW LLC, which is owned by Penske <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Media<\/a> Corporation, the parent company of <em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAnna Bogutskaya, the head of screen at\u00a0SXSW London, and her team have had a lot of work narrowing down a big number of movies that they viewed heading into the 2026 second edition.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content-image \/\/  \">\n<figure class=\"o-figure   size-large alignnone lrv-u-max-width-100p\" style=\"width:1699px\">\n<div class=\"c-lazy-image  \">\n<div class=\"lrv-a-crop-16x9\" style=\"padding-bottom:calc((956\/1699)*100%);\">\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/wp-content\/themes\/vip\/pmc-hollywoodreporter-2021\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.gif\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/landscape-edited.jpg?w=1699\" alt=\"\" data-lazy-srcset=\"\" data-lazy-sizes=\"\" height=\"956\" width=\"1699\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div><figcaption class=\"c-figcaption  lrv-u-padding-tb-025\">\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"a-font-secondary-s lrv-u-margin-r-025\">\u2018Get Jiro\u2019 still, courtesy of SXSW London<\/span><\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cThis year, we had the benefit of having done one already last year with the same vision, [so] our programming process was a bit more refined,\u201d she tells <em>THR<\/em>. \u201cWe had the same amount of slots, which is roughly 40 features.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tBut there is a core lens through which the team evaluates films. \u201cOur vision is heavily focused on international filmmakers and genre-friendly and genre-pushing storytelling,\u201d explains Bogutskaya. \u201cThe shared DNA of SXSW in Austin and the one that we\u2019re trying to build here in London is always at the heart of our programming. The other thing is balance, which you only really see as a whole when the program is fully finalized. Do we have enough documentaries of this flavor, do we not have enough films from East Asian countries, or do we not have enough French, Spanish or Mediterranean films? We\u2019re always looking for balance, so it never feels too overly weighted in one direction \u2013 not too many horror films, not too many documentaries of the same tone, not too many fiction films of the same tone, not too many war films, comedies or road movies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tA lot of screen time goes into finalizing the Screen Festival. \u201cWe watched maybe about 2,000, 3,000 films,\u201d Bogutskaya tells <em>THR<\/em>. \u201cYou have to be extremely selective and extremely conscious of every decision. If we had a program of 200 films, we would have more leeway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tStar power is part of the balance the team strives for. \u201cWe have\u00a0some interesting kind of star power, including in our headliners, five of six are world premieres this year,\u201d the SXSW London head of screen highlights. \u201cWe\u2019ve got talent attending for all of them, from Claire Foy and Richard E. Grant to Haley Bennett. We have a lot of really strong British talent as well as international talent.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content-image \/\/  \">\n<figure class=\"o-figure   size-large alignnone lrv-u-max-width-100p\" style=\"width:1600px\">\n<div class=\"c-lazy-image  \">\n<div class=\"lrv-a-crop-16x9\" style=\"padding-bottom:calc((900\/1600)*100%);\">\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/wp-content\/themes\/vip\/pmc-hollywoodreporter-2021\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.gif\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Woolf-edited.jpg?w=1600\" alt=\"\" data-lazy-srcset=\"\" data-lazy-sizes=\"\" height=\"900\" width=\"1600\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div><figcaption class=\"c-figcaption  lrv-u-padding-tb-025\">\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"a-font-secondary-s lrv-u-margin-r-025\">\u2018Virginia Woolf\u2019s Night and Day\u2019 film still, courtesy of SXSW London<\/span><\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe U.S. and Latin America also have a key presence. \u201cOne thing that we are trying to do is share the platform with the core ethos of the Screen Festival, which is international genre-bending, genre-friendly,\u201d says the screen programming boss. \u201cSo, for instance, this year we have two international headliners that are both world premieres and both series \u2013 a huge Brazilian production\u00a0called <em>The Playoffs<\/em> and <em>Get Jiro<\/em>, which is an <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/anime-manga\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"6\" title=\"Anime || Manga\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">anime<\/a> series based on an Anthony Bourdain graphic novel. That is such an early get for us. I\u2019m really proud of it, also because it is such an incredible show. It\u2019s got that tone and humor and is just such a blast, so that screening is going to be such a wicked experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Playoffs<\/em>, starring Cau\u00e3 Reymond in a series about a former soccer star turned agent who runs from the militia, his family, and himself on the way to regaining glory, is also a coup, given its country of origin and the timing. \u201cIt is a huge production for Globo in Brazil that has an audience here, and also the timing with the World Cup was too delicious to ignore,\u201d shares Bogutskaya. Indeed, the FIFA soccer World Cup in the U.S., Canada and Mexico runs June 11-July 19.<\/p>\n<p>Are there any overarching <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">theme<\/a>s across the Screen Festival? \u201cThat\u2019s the sort of thing that always comes out after the program is done,\u201d she says. \u201cI can look at the films that we\u2019ve programmed and see throughlines between them, but we never program with a theme in mind. What I can see looking at the program now is how characters, in both documentary and narrative films, are dealing with real-life, larger-than-life events, [whether] war or [other] challenges, by using art to make sense of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tOne example is Sandu\u2019s <em>Memory<\/em>, described on the SXSW London website as \u201ca haunting blend of documentary and dream.\u201d Born in Crimea and raised in war-torn Chechnya, Sandu looks back at her past through \u201cfragments: family secrets, rumours, and the stories no one was allowed to tell,\u201d notes a synopsis. \u201cUsing reconstructions and evocative, poetic imagery that recalls a childhood growing up in the Soviet Union.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content-image \/\/  \">\n<figure class=\"o-figure   size-full alignnone lrv-u-max-width-100p\" style=\"width:1024px\">\n<div class=\"c-lazy-image  \">\n<div class=\"lrv-a-crop-16x9\" style=\"padding-bottom:calc((576\/1024)*100%);\">\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/wp-content\/themes\/vip\/pmc-hollywoodreporter-2021\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.gif\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Memory-edited.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-lazy-srcset=\"\" data-lazy-sizes=\"\" height=\"576\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div><figcaption class=\"c-figcaption  lrv-u-padding-tb-025\">\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"a-font-secondary-s lrv-u-margin-r-025\">\u2018Memory\u2019 film still, courtesy of SXSW London<\/span><\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tSimilarly, the doc <em>Remake<\/em> sees McElwee dealing with the death of his son through filmmaking and <em>The Other Side of the Sun<\/em> \u201cis an incredible documentary where they\u2019re using puppetry to process the damage and the trauma of having been captured and tortured\u201d in Syria. Plus, Joan Porcel\u2019s <em>La Carn<\/em> (<em>The Flesh<\/em>), about \u201ca queer performance artist who gets dangerously close to a stranger in an online chat room,\u201d per a synopsis, features a young man who\u2019s \u201ccreating a theater piece out of internet hookup culture and the really fleeting connections that you can establish with people through a ChatRoulette conversation,\u201d the SXSW London head of screen points out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cEven <em>Virginia Woolf\u2019s Night and Day<\/em> is about a woman who\u2019s looking up at the stars and using astronomy to make sense of a deeply patriarchal world,\u201d notes Bogutskaya. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAll in all, SXSW London 2026 audiences are in for a mix of laughter, tears, scares and new ideas \u2013\u00a0all while <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>ing the globe cinematically. Concludes Bogutskaya: \u201cWe\u2019re bringing the world to London audiences through our curation.
