Paxos says its app<\/a>roval as a blockchain-focused clearing agency represents a \u201ccritical piece of financial market infrastructure\u201d as Wall Street becomes more interested in crypto.<\/p>\n

Blockchain infrastructure platform and stablecoin issuer Paxos says it has become the first \u201cblockchain-native\u201d firm that the US Securities and Exchange Commission has granted registration as a clearing agency.<\/p>\n

Paxos said<\/a> on Thursday that its subsidiary, Paxos Securities Settlement Company, has become \u201cthe only blockchain-native firm\u201d that the SEC approved to provide clearing and settlement services as a central securities depository in the US.<\/p>\n

The approval represents a \u201ccritical piece of financial market infrastructure\u201d as blockchain technology<\/a> and traditional capital markets continue to converge, the company added.\u00a0<\/p>\n
