Olivia Rodrigo<\/strong> is hitting back at criticism over her new attire!<\/p>\n

The Drop Dead<\/em> singer has taken on a new look for her latest era, donning babydoll dresses in several recent performances and music videos. And while she\u2019s into the look, many others have called her out for dressing like a \u201csexy baby.\u201d The Disney Channel<\/strong> alum has seen the controversy, and she has thoughts!<\/p>\n

In Wednesday\u2019s episode of The New York Times<\/em>\u2019 Popcast<\/em>, the 23-year-old strongly slammed her haters, saying:<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s been making me so upset. \u2026 What\u2019s really disturbing is, I feel like I actually wear \u2014 I have worn outfits that are revealing on stage. I\u2019ve been on stage in a sparkly bra and little shorts, which is my right. That\u2019s fun [and] I felt cool and comfortable in that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

But now that she\u2019s more covered up, she finds it strange that she\u2019s getting blasted for it:<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd that wasn\u2019t inapp<\/a>ropriate, but me fully covered up in a dress that people deem to be childlike was inappropriate.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cI just think it shows how we really normalize pedophilia in our culture. Also, it\u2019s just this rhetoric that we\u2019re fed as girls since we were so little, which is, \u2018Don\u2019t wear that because then a man is gonna sexualize your body, and it\u2019s your fault.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Olivia thought the reaction to her outfit was \u201cso weird,\u201d especially because she didn\u2019t think she looked \u201csexy,\u201d she explained:<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, This is so cool. I feel like I look like Kathleen Hanna<\/strong> or Courtney Love <\/strong>\u2014 all these people who are my heroes.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She furthered:<\/p>\n

\u201cI just think if we start dressing in a way that\u2019s like, \u2018Oh, I don\u2019t want some freak to think that I like am sexy like a baby or some crazy thing like that,\u2019 it\u2019s losing the plot a little.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She also stressed how she feels \u201cprotective\u201d of her young female fans and doesn\u2019t want them to be \u201cfed that rhetoric,\u201d she urged:<\/p>\n
