\n Veteran actor Steve Harris, who played lawyer Eugene Young in \u201cThe Practice,\u201d returns to the legal game<\/a> in \u201cFilthy Rich,\u201d the new Fox drama airing Mondays at 9 p.m.<\/p>\n

The pulpy Southern Gothic drama follows the wealthy Monreaux family, who own a Christian TV empire called Sunshine Network. There\u2019s patriarch\/CEO Eugene (Gerald McRaney), his TV host wife Margaret (Kim Cattrall, \u201cSex and the City,\u201d) and their two adult kids Rose (Aubrey Dollar, \u201cBattle Creek\u201d) and Eric (Corey Cott, \u201cThe Good Fight\u201d). When Eugene dies in a plane crash, it comes to light that he has three additional adult children from working-class backgrounds.<\/p>\n

Harris\u2019 character, Franklin Lee, is the family\u2019s lawyer who reveals this startling information to everyone.<\/p>\n

\u201cI enjoy playing good characters, regardless of what their job descript<\/a>ion is,\u201d Harris, 54, tells The Post. \u201cThe irony in this particular instance is that I\u2019m more of a fixer than a lawyer. You don\u2019t see me in the courtroom, but my hands are on everything.<\/p>\n

\u201c[The series] gave me an opportunity to do something I usually don\u2019t do, [which is] to be in a show that has a soap quality to it,\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s kind of humorous to deal with all the things that goes on with that family. We\u2019re not making fun of faith [and] that was a big deal to me. The family has so many secrets, and I get to be that guy who knows all of them.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew that would give me a lot of flavor,\u201d he says. \u201cThis is a show that you can watch and say, \u2018My life still isn\u2019t as bad as these guys.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n

Aside from David E. Kelly\u2019s Emmy-winning \u201cThe Practice,\u201d which aired from 1997-2004 on ABC, Harris has been a familiar face on a slew of popular shows including FX\u2019s \u201cJustified,\u201d TNT\u2019s \u201cLegends\u201d and NBC\u2019s \u201cFriday Night Lights.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cKim [Cattrall and I have] been in the business for a long time together, but I had never worked with her before,\u201d he says. \u201cEven though we\u2019ve both been to certain events like the Emmys, we\u2019d never met. We had fun, laughing on set.\u201d<\/p>\n

As \u201cFilthy Rich\u201d progresses, Eugene\u2019s illegitimate children arrive at the Monreaux mansion to accept their inheritance: there\u2019s Antonio (Benjamin Levy Aguilar, \u201cChicago P.D.\u201d), a boxer from Queens; Jason (Mark L. Young, \u201cVeronica Mars\u201d) a Colorado pot farmer; and Ginger (Melia Kreiling, \u201cSalvation\u201d), a Las Vegas webcam model.<\/p>\n

Margaret wants the trio to walk away with $1 million and sign NDAs but, as Ginger points out in the first episode, that isn\u2019t as generous as it sounds, since Eugene\u2019s empire is valued at $2.2. billion. A battle of wills ensues, with both millions and the company\u2019s future at stake.<\/p>\n

\u201cFilthy Rich\u201d is set in New Orleans and was shot on-location (and not in Vancouver, as in the case of so many other shows).<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is what\u2019s fascinating about New Orleans: you have the idea of Bourbon Street, the elevated cemeteries, the history of voodoo and that sort of sensibility,\u201d says Harris. \u201cBut the reality is, when you think of New Orleans, it\u2019s below water level, so there\u2019s a resilience to these people, and a pride. And this is coming from a guy from Chicago! New Yorkers have a thing about New York, and people from New Orleans have a thing about their city. They have a fervor to them; a commitment and a drive.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
