\n Microsoft has increasingly embraced of Linux over the past few years, going so far as to make it easy to run a proper Linux terminal and app<\/a>lications in Windows 10. Now Microsoft is extending another olive branch to Linux by offering its new Chromium-powered version of Edge on the OS.<\/p>\n

Starting next month, Microsoft will make Edge available on Linux<\/a> as a developer preview build. Users will be able to download it right from the Edge Insider\u2019s site<\/a> or pick it up from Linux\u2018s package manager.<\/p>\n

Given Chromium\u2019s existing popularity, Edge should, for the most part, work just the same on Linux as on other platforms. Microsoft\u2018s new browser can run the Chrome extensions you\u2019re already used to and is altogether a pleasant browser in my experience. I\u2019ve been running Edge for several months now and it\u2019s similar enough to Chrome that I miss little while appreciating some of its benefits \u2014 far improved memory management and privacy controls in particular.<\/p>\n

In any case, it\u2019s nice to see Microsoft appreciating Linux more; this is a company that once so derided open-source that there\u2019s a whole Wikipedia page<\/a> on its disdain.<\/p>\n
