You\u2019ll likely never see Tom Holland<\/strong> take on the hosting role of SNL<\/em>!<\/p>\n

As much as fans would love to see the Spider-Man<\/em> star take to the famous Studio 8H as a host of Saturday Night Live<\/em>, Tom has thoughts on the position. He explained in an episode of Amy Poehler<\/strong>\u2018s Good Hang<\/em> podcast on Tuesday that he experiences some struggles that would prevent him from ever wanting to take on an SNL<\/em> monologue:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m heavily dyslexic.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

When Amy asked if it was the \u201ccue cards\u201d that made Zendaya<\/strong>\u2018s man hesitate, he confirmed it was exactly that:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so petrified at the concept of trying to read something and then they change [it]. For me, I can read fine, but when I have to read out loud, it just becomes like a kind of\u2014it\u2019s like a mental block\u2014and I can freeze.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

If you\u2019re not familiar with dyslexia, the International Dyslexia Association<\/strong> defines the \u201clanguage-based learning disability\u201d as \u201ca cluster of symptoms, which result in people having difficulties with specific language skills, particularly reading\u201d. People who have dyslexia can experience symptoms such as trouble \u201cspelling, writing, and pronouncing words\u201d.<\/p>\n

Because of this fear, Tom says he\u2019s even turned down Lorne Michaels<\/strong>\u2018 offer to host several times:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been really lucky that they\u2019ve asked me a few times to do it, and the truth is that I\u2019m actually just really scared. I love the show, and I love the idea of having fun and making a fool of yourself in such a fun, creative way. It\u2019s just that thing of the cue cards.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The actor also said his struggles with dyslexia hinder his movie roles, but he pushes through:<\/p>\n

\u201cFor me, my worst day at work is the read-through. I will really try and highlight everything and learn my lines ahead of time so that I\u2019m more skimming it than I am reading it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Amy encouraged Tom to face his fears, though! She said:<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to remember, there have been people that have hosted that have been fully on drugs. I think you can do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
