\n\tPrime Video\u2018s comedy Escorted<\/em>, starring and created by Brett Goldstein, is adding Lesley Manville to its cast.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe newly crowned Tony Award winner will play the mother of Goldstein\u2019s character in the series<\/a>. Her casting marks a return to Prime Video for Manville, who also stars in the Amazon-owned streamer\u2019s Citadel<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tEscorted<\/em>, which Prime Video ordered to series late last year, stars Goldstein (Ted Lasso, Shrinking<\/em>) as Denny, a divorced dad in Manhattan who accidentally becomes a male escort. Prime Video describes the show as a \u201cromantic comedy about sexual dynamics, keeping secrets, and whether real intimacy can ever be bought.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tManville (The Crown, Phantom Thread<\/em>) will play Terri, Denny\u2019s mother and a \u201ccharisma bomb\u201d cabaret singer. Her character is a force of nature with a voice to match.<\/p>\n

\n\tManville won a Tony Award on Sunday for best lead actress in a play for Oedipus<\/em>. She was nominated for an Oscar in 2018 for her role in Phantom Thread; her recent credits also include FX\u2019s Grotesquerie<\/em>, the Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black, Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris<\/em> and the upcoming Marble Hall Murders<\/em>, which is set to premiere on PBS\u2019 Masterpiece<\/em> in September. Manville is repped by Artists Rights Group, Avalon Television and Public Eye Communications.<\/p>\n

\n\tWarner Bros. Television, where Goldstein has an overall deal, is producing Escorted<\/em>. Goldstein is writing the series and serves as co-showrunner with Brian Gallivan (Shrinking, Happ<\/a>y Endings<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
