The verdict is in for Karmelo Anthony<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A little over a year after the stabbing of Austin Metcalf<\/strong> at a track meet in Frisco, Texas, he\u2019s finally getting some justice. In case you don\u2019t remember, back in April 2025, the 17-year-old track star reportedly got in an argument with the now 19-year-old. It escalated and ended in Austin being stabbed and sadly succumbing to his injuries. The case sparked wide-ranging conversation all across the Untied States.<\/p>\n

Karmelo was arrested the same day of the stabbing and allegedly asked officers if he\u2019d be able to claim self defense in his case, which ended up being exactly what he did. But despite his attorneys trying to prove he was acting in self defense, the jury found Karmelo guilty of murder on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

During the trial, jurors heard from eyewitnesses, responding police officers, students, coaches, and even saw bodycam footage of the day Austin was stabbed. They also concluded that the knife Karmelo had was legal under state law, and completely legal to bring into the track meet venue.<\/p>\n

The teen now faces anywhere from five to 99 years in prison, per a Collin County jury. His sentencing is currently underway.<\/p>\n
