\n Danny Lee let Winged Foot win.<\/p>\n

Lee had an epic meltdown on the 18th green at the US Open on Saturday, six-putting from a few feet away to shoot 78. He immedia<\/a>tely withdrew from the major tournament, citing a wrist injury.<\/p>\n

The New Zealand native apologized for his actions on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI apologize for my poor actions at the US Open last week,\u201d Lee wrote on Twitter<\/a>. \u201cI was very unprofessional and foolish. Obviously hurt lots of my fans and followers and my Sponsors out there \u2026 my frustration took over me and combined with injury I had to fight with it for all week.<\/p>\n

\u201cStill just an excuse. I shouldn\u2019t (have) left like that\u2026 and also (I\u2019d) like to apologize to USGA they did a tremendous job last week at Wing(ed) Foot. On the course and off the course. Now I gonna take some time off and think what I did and starting next time I\u2019ll show up as a better person and have better sportsmanship. Thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ironically, Lee had made the cut and was faring better than a lot of his fellow competitors in the third round. Lee, ranked 112 in the world, was just 3-over par on his round, coming off a birdie on 17 and had a makable par putt on the final hole. After the second attempt zoomed by, he took no time on any of the ensuing putts before the ball finally found its way to the hole on his sixth attempt. Lee then stormed off the green and slammed his putter into his bag.<\/p>\n

The severity of Lee\u2019s wrist injury is unclear.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
