According to\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/wikileaks-julian-assange-at-very-high-risk-of-suicide-attempt-psychiatric-expert-tells-court\/\">CBS News<\/a>, the\u00a0WikiLeaks\u00a0founder \u201ccomplained of hearing imaginary voices and music\u201d while detained in a high-security British prison. Michael Kopelman, a psychiatrist who has interviewed him nearly two dozen times, says Assange would be a \u201cvery high\u201d suicide risk if he\u2019s extradited to the United States.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Assange, 48, is being\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/national-security\/445299-assange-hit-with-17-new-charges-including-espionage-act-violations\">charged<\/a>\u00a0under the\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Espionage_Act_of_1917\">Espionage Act<\/a>, accusing him of\u00a0conspiring\u00a0with former Army intelligence officer\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chelsea_Manning\">Chelsea Manning<\/a>\u00a0to collect and publish military secrets\u2014specifically Iraq War files from 2010. Kopelman cited Assange\u2019s \u201csevere depression\u201d and \u201cpsychotic symptoms,\u201d which included sensory hallucinations from his time in solitary confinement at London\u2019s high-security Belmarsh Prison.<\/p>\n<p>However, it\u2019s the language being used around this information that has conspiracy thinkers openly pondering whether there\u2019s more than meets the eye. Popularized most recently by controversial, right-wing commentators Alex Jones and David Icke, predictive programming is the \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/u.osu.edu\/vanzandt\/2018\/04\/18\/predictive-programming\/\">theory<\/a>\u00a0that the government or other higher-ups are using fictional movies or books as a mass mind control tool to make the population more accepting of planned future events.\u201d Usually, a film or TV show, like\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5598KDTZwZ4\"><em>The Simpsons<\/em><\/a>, would serve as a pretext. In this case, the \u201cfictional\u201d event is Jeffrey Epstein\u2019s unusual\u00a0death.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Wouldn&#8217;t be suicide, it would be murder. No one could ever convince me otherwise. He had been arrested for sex trafficking of minors in Florida and New York, with other now-adult women coming forward to describe their abuse by Epstein. Suicide was the official ruling in his death; however, the skepticism of his death remains.\u00a0In relating Assange to Epstein, conspiracy tweeters and redditors see similarities.<\/p>\n<p>u\/oasisreverie\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/conspiracy\/comments\/ixtzpv\/some_predictive_programming_for_ya\/\">wrote<\/a>: \u201cHe has been showing signs that he was tortured\u2026 He probably is having hallucinations as a result of being in solitary confinement for so long. I hope he is freed soon before his condition worsens. That being said, if he does die in prison, I will be suspicious of murder. I do not believe it is easy to kill one\u2019s self in a high security prison.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kopelman says Assange\u2019s suicidal thoughts \u201carise out of clinical factors\u2026 but it is the imminence of extradition that will trigger the attempt,\u201d suggesting \u201che will deteriorate substantially\u201d if extradited to the United States.
