hungry. Malva has a classically emo look: long, scr<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>y bangs swerving naturally around his cheeks and framing his face in offset curves. He\u2019s dressed for comfort, swaddled in a black hoodie with a blanket over his legs.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            Fay has a more boyish demeanor. He\u2019s hunched forward sporting square-framed glasses and a black tee printed with white jack-o-lantern features. \u201cWe\u2019d walk from where we lived in East Hollywood to Griffith Park, and my mom would marinate a chicken in Sunny D and a bunch of spices and throw it on the grill,\u201d he says, sharing his own memories of attending carne asadas. \u201cIt&#8217;s traditional as fuck.\u201d\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            Corridos Ketamina is steeped in that tradition, too, but also in the culture of the internet. The band\u2019s sound is a novel collision of a centuries-old form of Mexican outlaw music and styles that range from trap and cloud rap to punk and emo. Incepted by Fay and Malva in 2024, it pushes corridos tumbados \u2014 a style that combines elements of trap music with modernized \u201cnarcocorridos\u201d \u2014 to the left and has grown a community of true believers. It celebrates a proud and distinctly Mexican lineage, but it also incorporates the cannibalistic appetite of the Gen-Z music nerd and a type of aesthetic shapeshifting that\u2019s only achievable online.\n          <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content_block paragraph triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-281748\" class=\"content_block paragraph embed triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"media_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"\">\n    <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"K Me Maten\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ka9m25ac010?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-281763\" class=\"content_block breaker triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left pull_quote\">\n<div class=\"media_wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"pull_quote\"><p>It\u2019s traditional as fuck.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<style>\n<\/style>\n<div id=\"content_block-281753\" class=\"content_block paragraph text triple_gutter_right triple_gutter_left center_align\">\n<div class=\"content_inner_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"paragraph_wrapper center_align\">\n<p>\n            In an interview with the band last year, Malva said they made it a point to make music that people in their age group could embrace without feeling like a minority. \u201cWe don\u2019t want to frame our project as a struggle; we want to have a power culture attached to it,\u201d he added. This fall, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_new\" href=\"https:\/\/corridosketamina.com\/\">Corridos Ketamina will release <i>La Cktriz<\/i><\/a> (a stylized spelling of \u201cla cicatriz\u201d or \u201cthe scar\u201d), the project they hope will take the movement global.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            Fay and Malva met in the late 2010s through online internet friends. Back then, Malva was based in Phoenix, Arizona, but constantly <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>ing to Los Angeles to make music and play shows with his previous band. The duo didn\u2019t start collaborating until much more recently, around 2024. The drums crash jarringly, the guitar melts into dissonance, and the lyrics \u2014 \u201cCons\u00famame, esc\u00fapame, disfrutame, y luego m\u00e1tame\u201d (\u201cConsume me, spit on me, enjoy me, and then kill me\u201d) \u2014 describe a strain of toxic, obsessive love far too complex for the airwaves. Other songs on the forthcoming project show different facets of their development in the past year. There\u2019s an ambient corrido mixed like a Cocteau Twins cut, featuring a line about a \u201cbuchona estilo Bj\u00f6rk,\u201d or a woman with niche music taste and a \u201cBBL aesthetic,\u201d Malva explains.\n          <\/p>\n<p>\n            The vocal performances are inspired by Michael Jackson, the Beatles, Enrique Iglesias, Justin Timberlake, and Juan Gabriel, a Mexican pop icon who\u2019s been an inspiration for Malva and Fay. \u201cHe got arrested for stealing cologne,\u201d Malva says. \u201cHe was broke, but he still cared about his swag and his scent. You\u2019re like MF DOOM,\u2019\u201d Malva says. Fay is especially obsessed with aguachiles, the Mexican version of ceviche. Aguachiles ultimately took the title, but Lean beat Natanael Cano, the 25-year-old godfather of corridos tumbados, in an early-round upset. CK\u2019s sound is much closer to Cano\u2019s than Lean\u2019s, and Fay and Malva both say they feel a deeper connection to Cano\u2019s music, but Malva credits Lean with showing him how to be an \u201conline artist.\u201d This aesthetic tug-of-war is the CK movement\u2019s defining quality.\n          <\/p>\n<div class=\"\" style=\"padding-bottom: 20px; margin-top: 20px; text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>\n            More than just a band or even a movement, Corridos Ketamina is the face of a weirder, more inclusive and eclectic community under the umbrella of Mexican and Mexican-American culture at large. \u201cWe\u2019ve never claimed it as ours because we want people to claim it as theirs,\u201d Malva says. \u201cEven the audience: With every win we get, they\u2019re winning as well because they\u2019re getting represented.
