\n A man has been busted for setting the blaze that killed a Manhattan resident earlier this month, cops said Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

Sadam Assana, 28, was arrested in connection to the fire that broke out around 9:50 a.m. Sept. 4 inside 37-year-old Michael Hannant\u2019s apartment on Ninth Avenue near West 55th Street in Hells Kitchen, cops said.<\/p>\n

Once firefighters extinguished the blaze, Hannant was found unconscious and unresponsive inside the home, suffering from smoke inhalation.<\/p>\n

He was rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian\/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he died five days later, cops said.<\/p>\n

The incident has been deemed a homicide.<\/p>\n

Assana, who lives only blocks away, was charged with arson and attempted arson the day of the blaze.<\/p>\n

The Manhattan District Attorney\u2019s office would handle any additional charges, cops said.<\/p>\n

Assana allegedly set the fire from inside the building, but it was not immedia<\/a>tely clear whether he and Hannant knew each other.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
