The first is <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lying AI to business models to drive revenue growth, shortening product development cycles and improving customer service.<\/p>\n<p>The second race is defensive. Fraser said Citi\u2019s job is to keep the bank, its customers, and the wider financial ecosystem secure, with heavy investment so that fraud, money laundering, and cyber threats \u201c<em>don\u2019t become a problem<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>That defensive race is not hypothetical, as criminals already run\u00a0sophisticated tech-driven laundering operations. Deepfakes in particular threaten\u00a0the trust that finance runs on.<\/p>\n<p>Citi has skin in the boom itself. Fraser is more measured on what that means for staff, saying \u201c<em>there will be job dislocations<\/em>\u201d even as new roles emerge.<\/p>\n<p>She recalled her own analyst days spent photocopying microfiche and faxing it to New York, arguing that jobs change and new ones appear. The transition will not be perfectly timed, she conceded, but employees are being told to embrace the tools.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_dislocations_have_started\"><\/span>The dislocations have started<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Citi cut 3,500 technology staff in Shanghai and Dalian last year as part of a\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/06\/05\/citi-plans-to-cut-3500-tech-roles-in-china-as-global-banks-cut-costs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">global cost-cutting drive<\/a>. Morgan Stanley has estimated AI could eliminate as many as 400,000 European banking jobs by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>Rivals are walking the same line, with Starling\u00a0cutting 130 jobs while still hiring AI engineers. Startups such as Taktile, which\u00a0raised $110m to put AI in charge of bank decisions, are supplying the machinery.<\/p>\n<p>The industry has speculated about\u00a0AI-era finance jobs\u00a0for the better part of a decade. What has changed is that chief executives now describe the dislocation out loud.<\/p>\n<p>For Fraser, the two races share a finish line.
