\n\tMichael J. Fox has received an Emmy nomination for his guest starring role in season three of Shrinking.<\/em><\/p>\n

\n\tThe App<\/a>le TV series<\/a>, which stars Jason Segel and Harrison Ford, saw Fox in a multi-episode arc at one point meet Dr. Paul Rhoades (Ford) in a therapist office waiting room. \u201cWhat are you in for?\u201d Fox asked Paul. \u201cParkinson\u2019s. You?\u201d Paul responded, to which Fox joked, \u201cJust a haircut,\u201d and they both laughed.<\/p>\n

\n\tFox will compete in the category against Brett Goldstein (Shrinking<\/em>), Hamish Linklater (Widow\u2019s Bay<\/em>), Christopher McDonald (Hacks<\/em>) and Connor Storrie (Saturday Night Live<\/em>).\u00a0Ford\u2019s character Paul was revealed to have Parkinson\u2019s in season one, with the character initially trying to hide it until he realized he needed to face his disease.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe guest role on Shrinking<\/em> marked Fox\u2019s return to acting after stepping away in 2020 due to\u00a0memory and speech issues\u00a0from Parkinson\u2019s disease. He\u00a0made Emmy history in 1986 when Fox was a second-time nominee for playing Alex P. Keaton, the conservative-leaning eldest child of former hippie parents on NBC\u2019s sitcom\u00a0Family Ties<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 and a burgeoning movie star on the heels of 1985\u2019s\u00a0Back to the Future<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Teen Wolf<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tAt 25, he won the award for best lead actor in a comedy series, beating out such veterans as Harry Anderson, Ted Danson and Bob Newhart, and became the youngest actor ever to win the prize.\u00a0Fox joining Shrinking<\/em> reunited him with series co-creator Bill Lawrence.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe two previously worked together on the ABC sitcom\u00a0Spin City<\/em>\u00a0for four seasons, which Fox starred in until 2000, when he departed due to Parkinson\u2019s-related issues. Fox also had a guest role on Lawrence\u2019s\u00a0Scrubs.<\/em><\/p>\n

\n\tThe 2026 Emmy nominations were announced on Wednesday morning during ceremony that streamed live from the TV Academy\u2019s Saban Media<\/a> Center. Mariska Hargitay will host the 2026 Emmys, which will air live on NBC and Peacock on Monday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET\/5 p.m. PT.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
