All eyes are on <em>WandaVision<\/em>, which hits Disney+ later this year \u2013 but it turns out you don\u2019t have to wait that long to see the next entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s new series <em><strong>Helstrom<\/strong><\/em> debuts on Hulu this October, but surprisingly, based on this newly released trailer, you wouldn\u2019t even know it had any connection at all to Marvel. That\u2019s a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4Ru8DMW-grY\">bold strategy<\/a>, Cotton \u2013 let\u2019s see if it pays off for \u2019em.<br \/><span id=\"more-637970\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Helstrom_Trailer\"><\/span>Helstrom Trailer<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Helstrom - Trailer (Official) | Hulu\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XKeugS4qjag?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->Welp! That looks a lot like something that would have aired on The CW circa 2006. Which, sadly, means it looks kinda terrible. (Apologies to my fellow <em>Smallville<\/em> watchers out there, but we all know that wasn\u2019t the best period for that network.) I mean, it has some good actors in it: any show that casts <strong>Robert Wisdom<\/strong>, AKA Bunny Colvin from <em>The Wire<\/em>, and <strong>Elizabeth Marvel<\/strong> (<em>House of Cards<\/em>, <em>Fargo<\/em>, <em>Homeland<\/em>) is going to have its bright spots. But woof, this show looks super cheap, and nothing about what I\u2019ve seen from <strong>Tom Austen<\/strong> and <strong>Sydney Lemmon<\/strong> as the Helstrom siblings makes me lean forward and want to know the truth about the mysteries they encounter. It\u2019s all so\u2026bland. That\u2019s not something I should be thinking about a series which contains \u201ca demon so powerful it could wipe out all of mankind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In August of 2019, Marvel Television announced that <em>Helstrom<\/em> would be one of the shows under the company\u2019s Adventure Into Fear initiative, along with <em>Ghost Rider<\/em> and two more unannounced shows. But as Marvel Television dissolved, Jeph Loeb went by the wayside, and the branch was absorbed into the control of Marvel Studios, <em>Ghost Rider<\/em> was abandoned and those two other shows were never announced.
