The label will indicate if an ad was created or edited with generative tools,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2026\/07\/09\/google-will-now-disclose-which-ads-are-made-with-ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">TechCrunch reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The disclosure <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ears in the \u201cMy Ad Center\u201d panel, reachable via the three-dot menu or info icon on ads. It covers ads across Google Search, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a>, and Google Discover, and is available globally.<\/p>\n<p>That panel already lets users block or report ads and learn why one was shown. Now it adds an option labelled \u201chow this ad was made\u201d, which surfaces any AI involvement.<\/p>\n<p>The rationale is straightforward. Extending it to commercial ads is a meaningful widening of the policy.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_honour-system_catch\"><\/span>The honour-system catch<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The reach of the feature depends heavily on how an ad was built. When advertisers use Google\u2019s own generative AI ad tools, the disclosure is switched on automatically.<\/p>\n<p>When an ad is made elsewhere, though, the advertiser must actively flag that AI was involved. Google says it will not run its own check to verify the claim, so the label rests on advertisers being honest.<\/p>\n<p>That gap matters because the incentive to stay quiet is real. An advertiser hoping a synthetic scene passes for a genuine photo has little reason to volunteer otherwise, and Google is not looking over its shoulder.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Regulators_are_forcing_the_issue\"><\/span>Regulators are forcing the issue<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The timing is not accidental. Google\u2019s move front-runs tougher rules, as the EU AI Act\u2019s transparency obligations for AI-generated content start to bite in August.<\/p>\n<p>Industry is already resisting the mandatory version, with\u00a0retailers lobbying to exempt AI-made ads\u00a0from those EU rules. A voluntary, self-declared label is a far lighter touch than what Brussels has in mind, and part of a\u00a0broader fight over the AI Act.<\/p>\n<p>Google is not consistent across its own products either. On YouTube it will\u00a0auto-label AI videos whether or not creators disclose them, a stricter stance than the advertiser honesty it relies on here.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Transparency_up_to_a_point\"><\/span>Transparency, up to a point<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The feature is still a step toward a market drowning in synthetic media, where even Google\u00a0has branded some AI content spam. Giving users a place to ask how an ad was made is better than silence.<\/p>\n<p>Whether it changes behaviour is another question, in an ecosystem where\u00a0deceptive advertising is already a lucrative problem. A label only helps if the people with the most to hide choose to apply it.<\/p>\n<p>For now, Google has built the disclosure and handed advertisers the switch.
