\n An irate Brooklyn straphanger attacked a woman who intervened while he attempted to steal another passenger\u2019s backpack this week, cops said.<\/p>\n

The 53-year-old victim was riding a southbound D train from Columbus Circle around 5:30 a.m. Sunday when she spotted a man trying to snatch a sleeping person\u2019s bookbag, according to police.<\/p>\n

The woman then alerted the passenger to wake up, angering the would-be thief, cops said.<\/p>\n

He started kicking the victim all over her face and body, according to police.<\/p>\n

He got off the train at Union Street and stayed on a Bay Ridge-bound R train until he reached the 25th Street station, cops said.<\/p>\n

The victim, left with multiple non-life-threatening injuries, was treated NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn.<\/p>\n

Cops describe the suspect as a man in his 30s with a dark complexion, about six feet tall and 220 pounds with a medium build, black hair and facial hair.<\/p>\n

He was last seen wearing a black du-rag, a black T-shirt, gray pants and gray sandals.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
