\n Two Louisville, Kentucky, police officers were shot Wednesday night in the city\u2019s downtown amid massive protests after a grand jury did not indict cops in the killing of Breonna Taylor.<\/p>\n

The officers were shot around 8:30 p.m. near Broadway and Brook Street as residents took to the city\u2019s streets after the grand jury\u2019s decision was handed down earlier in the day, the Louisville Metro Police said.<\/p>\n

A unidentified suspect was taken into custody at the scene, but charges against them were not released.<\/p>\n

Federal authorities said they were dispatched to the city to aid in the investigation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe FBI Louisville SWAT team has responded to an LMPD officer being shot and will continue to assist in the investigation,\u201d the FBI\u2019s Louisville branch tweeted<\/a>.<\/p>\n

One of the cops was shot in the abdomen, below a bullet-proof vest, and was rushed to surgery, the Courier-Journal reported, citing sources.<\/p>\n

The second officer was hit in the thigh, according to the news<\/a>paper.<\/p>\n

Body camera footage recorded by an officer who was patrolling in a line of other cops shows a chaotic scene just prior to the shots ringing out.<\/p>\n

Fireworks exploded above a near-empty street as the cops moved down the middle of the road, the video shows. A barrage of gunfire then erupts as the officers shout \u201cshots fired,\u201d according to the footage.<\/p>\n

The officer who was recording the footage then rushes to take cover behind a wall until realizing an officer had been shot and radioing for help.<\/p>\n

The shooting took place just 30 minutes before the city\u2019s mandated 9 p.m. curfew.<\/p>\n

The city had proactively issued a \u201cstate of emergency\u201d declaration anticipating unrest over the grand jury decision announced Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The decision cleared current and former police officers in the shooting death of Breonna Taylor. One ex-cop was indicted for \u201cwantonly\u201d firing shots into another apartment the night she died.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
