Since the beginning of her career, Eir Aoi <\/strong>has been the voice behind some of the most iconic anime<\/a> songs of the 2010s, such as \u201cMEMORIA\u201d from Fate\/Zero<\/em>, \u201cIGNITE\u201d from Sword Art Online<\/em>, and \u201cSirius\u201d from Kill la Kill<\/em>. Last season, Eir Aoi marked her return from a hiatus since January 2023 with \u201cMONSTER,\u201d the opening theme<\/a> of Classroom of the Elite <\/em>Season 4, and \u201cunrealistic,\u201d the opening theme of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Eir Aoi shared with Anime Trending this past spring about her songwriting process and marking her return to her career.<\/p>\n

This season marks an exciting return for you with not just one but two amazing openings: \u201cMONSTER\u201d and \u201cunrealistic.\u201d What are your favorite aspects of these two openings?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Eir Aoi: <\/strong>\u201cUnrealistic\u201d is a classic, expansive rock track. When recording the vocals, I paid particular attention to making them feel both free and rock-oriented.<\/p>\n

For \u201cMONSTER,\u201d I experimented with the vocals, opting for a piercingly sharp delivery. It\u2019s less about being rock and more about creating an edge, with slight shifts in tone and color throughout. Because the instrumental track is so fierce, I knew I had to fight to hold my own, so I sang as if I were locked in combat with it.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnrealistic\u201d is more of a track that feels close to the traditional Eir Aoi style, while \u201cMONSTER\u201d can be seen as a new type of Eir Aoi song. Also, I think \u201cunrealistic\u201d will definitely become a call-and-response song at live shows.<\/p>\n
