Nicole Kidman<\/strong> is opening up about her split from Keith Urban<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

The couple divorced after 19 years of marriage in 2025, citing irreconcilable differences. They share two kids, Sunday Rose<\/strong> and Faith Margaret<\/strong>, so it was a shock for the whole family. And now, The Perfect Couple<\/em> actress is getting candid about how she\u2019s processing the split \u2014 and even giving fans a peek into how she came to the decision to file for the divorce in the first place!<\/p>\n

Speaking with British Vogue<\/em> on Thursday, Nicole shared that she\u2019s always had a \u201cfeelings first\u201d mentality:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve app<\/a>roached my whole life like that. That\u2019s just who I am. I don\u2019t overthink things and I\u2019m probably not that analytical.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Nicole said she\u2019s \u201cfar more feeling-centred\u201d when it comes to personal and professional decisions:<\/p>\n

\u201cI lead with my heart. I just go, \u2018OK, what do I feel here? I\u2019ll give it a go.\u2019 It throws people, because I think they think I\u2019ll be far more measured and I\u2019m not. I can still approach things intellectually, but my desire is not to be ruled by my head.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

But when you listen to your heart, you have to be open to heartbreaks along the way, she mused:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always wanted to live a well-examined life, so what does that entail? Trying things, making mistakes, failing, getting back up, moving on, embracing love, staying open, keeping the heart open and the possibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

While 2026 has not been an easy year since the divorce was finalized in January, she\u2019s navigating the best she can:<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cBut at the same time I\u2019m like, \u2018OK, I didn\u2019t expect this. I had a different view of what my life was going to be, but this is what it is now.\u2019 You make all these plans and you have all these ideas of what it\u2019s all going to be like and then it\u2019s \u2026 not. You have to adjust. You adapt. The future, it\u2019s completely unknown to me right now \u2026 Strange.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That cannot be easy, though! Especially as she helps her relatively young daughters process the same massive change, too! Plus, they have to do this all in the public eye. On the \u201cdeeply vulnerable\u201d aspect of her new normal, she expressed:<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a point where I was very fearful and deeply vulnerable, which is exposing. And then at the same time [I\u2019m] going, \u2018Well, I can either really not confront it and just curl up, or I can just go forward with an enormous amount of hope.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Such a good attitude!<\/p>\n

She also gave credit to \u201cso many older women in my life who are incredible mentors,\u201d explaining:<\/p>\n

\u201cI had my mother and then I have another woman who sort of helped raise me since I was 16. Part of the way they approach life was sometimes [to say to me]: \u2018Nicole, you just got to take it on the chin.\u2019 Once you accept that, instead of going, \u2018Well, that\u2019s not fair or it\u2019s unjust,\u2019 you go, \u2018Well, yes, actually it isn\u2019t fair. Because things are not fair.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The 59-year-old continued:<\/p>\n

\u201cI know my character. I know my talent. I know who I am. If I make a mistake and it doesn\u2019t connect, or something goes wrong in my life where it\u2019s humiliating, it\u2019s OK. Other people have had that and that\u2019s OK. Take the onus off it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

For now, though, Lioness<\/em> star\u2019s main focus remains on her kids (she also shares Isabella<\/strong> and Connor<\/strong>\u00a0with ex Tom Cruise<\/strong>, though their relationships have been strained for years):<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an extraordinary purpose. Everything else is not important. These kids now, that\u2019s what we drop everything for. It\u2019s OK, we\u2019re here. You\u2019ve got people who love you, who are going to hold your hand and get through it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
