His girlfriend leaves him and he finds himself in a house for the deaf. And while there\u2019s no miracle cure for his condition, Ahmed\u2019s character refuses to accept the situation he finds himself in. Watch the\u00a0<em>Sound of Metal<\/em> trailer below.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Sound_of_Metal_Trailer\"><\/span><strong>Sound of Metal Trailer<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Exclusive Trailer for Sound of Metal\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/q_2gWS9PbHE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->This is a great trailer. It\u2019s a great showcase for Ahmed\u2019s performance and it also takes you through the emotional journey present throughout the narrative. In\u00a0<em>Sound of Metal<\/em>, \u201cDuring a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> of adrenaline-fueled one-night gigs, itinerant punk-metal drummer Ruben (Riz Ahmed) begins to experience intermittent hearing loss. When a specialist tells him his condition will rapidly worsen, he thinks his music career \u2014 and with it his life \u2014 is over. His bandmate and girlfriend Lou (Olivia Cooke) checks the recovering heroin addict into a secluded sober house for the deaf in hopes it will prevent a relapse and help him learn to adapt to his new situation. But after being welcomed into a community that accepts him just as he is, Ruben has to choose between his equilibrium and the drive to reclaim the life he once knew.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I caught\u00a0<em>Sound of Metal<\/em> at last year\u2019s Toronto International Film Festival, and was very impressed with it. It\u2019s perhaps a little overlong, but Ahmed\u2019s performance is dynamite, and\u00a0nd the way director\u00a0<strong>Darius Marder <\/strong>conveys the character\u2019s journey is impressive. As I wrote in my review:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>To adequately portray Ruben\u2019s deafness, Marder and a fully stacked sound department burrow deep into an\u00a0aural landscape \u2013 and lack thereof. Long stretches of the film have us literally in Ruben\u2019s headspace, the sounds of the film around him muted, muffled, and altogether blocked-out.\u00a0<em>Sound of Metal<\/em>\u00a0is also close-captioned \u2013 not just subtitled \u2013 in an attempt to create a film designed for both hearing and deaf audiences. The experience can often be overwhelming \u2013 the very first scene of the film features Ruben practically obliterating a drumset during a concert, only to soon give way to scenes scored by ringing and then flat-out silence. With this <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach,\u00a0<em>Sound of Metal<\/em>\u00a0has the genuine effect of drawing us into Ruben\u2019s world.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The film\u2019s sound design is a huge part of the movie, and while that will no doubt sound better in a theater, I remain cautious about going back to the movies.
