\nThe Criterion Channel just went ahead and programmed your Halloween movie marathon for you. In October, the streaming service is offering a lineup of great horror movies<\/a> from the 1970s, including\u00a0The Texas Chain Saw Massacre<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0The Hills Have Eyes<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0Don\u2019t Look Now<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0Deathdream<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0Invasion of the Body Snatchers<\/strong><\/em>, and more. Check out the full lineup below, and start planning your horror marathon accordingly.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s always a good time to watch horror movies. But there\u2019s something extra special about doubling-down on horror watching in the month of October, all in the name of celebrating Halloween. And if you\u2019re on the lookout for suggestions on what to watch, the Criterion Channel has you covered this year.<\/p>\n

The 1970s were a big decade for horror. America was dealing with the end of the turbulent 1960s and still in the midst of the Veitnam War, and good horror movies always reflect their respective eras. As the Criterion Channel explains, the horror of the \u201970s \u201cresponded to the decade\u2019s heightened political anxieties and Vietnam War\u2013era sense of disillusionment by pushing the genre\u2019s psychological intensity and visceral violence to shocking new heights.\u201d<\/p>\n

On October 4<\/strong>, the following films will find their way onto The Criterion Channel:<\/p>\n

I\u2019m particularly excited to catch up on films I\u2019ve not managed to see yet, like\u00a0The Witch Who Came from the Sea<\/em> and the Michael Crichton-directed\u00a0Coma<\/em>. While I can\u2019t attest to all<\/em> of these movies being\u00a0good<\/em>, I will say that the majority of them are definitely worth watching. I\u2019d particularly recommend\u00a0Don\u2019t Look Now<\/em>,\u00a0The Crazies<\/em>,\u00a0The Driller Killer<\/em>,\u00a0Sisters<\/em>, and, of course,\u00a0The Texas Chain Saw Massacre<\/em>.<\/p>\n

If \u201970s horror isn\u2019t your thing, Criterion is also adding horror movies from other eras to their streaming service as well.
