Here\u2019s a story that seems almost too pure for this world. Captain<\/strong> Tom Moore<\/strong>, a 100-year-old British World War II hero who raised nearly $50 million for the U.K.\u2019s National Health Service by walking laps in his garden during the pandemic, is getting a biopic.<\/span><\/p>\n

Variety<\/a> reports that two companies, Fred Films and Powder Keg Pictures, have jointly won a bidding war for the life rights of former British Army Captain Tom Moore, and they\u2019ve fast-tracked a feature film that\u2019s intended to shoot sometime next year.\u00a0James Spring<\/strong>,\u00a0Nick Moorcroft<\/strong>,\u00a0and\u00a0Meg Leonard<\/strong>\u00a0will produce, with Moorcroft and Leonard writing the script<\/a>. No director is in place yet.<\/p>\n

At 100 years old, Moore hoped to\u00a0raise \u00a31000 ($1,272) this year for the National Health Service by walking 100 laps around his garden using his walker in the time leading up to his 100th birthday. But his selfless act of charity ended up inspiring the nation to donate far beyond his initial goal, and when all was said and done, he had raised\u00a0\u00a338.9 million ($49.4 million). He ended up recording a hit single, \u201cYou\u2019ll Never Walk Alone,\u201d which went to number 1 on the U.K. charts, breaking a Guinness World Record as the oldest person to achieve a U.K. No. 1 track (beating out \u201cIt\u2019s Not Unusual\u201d crooner Tom Jones).
