It reverses a US move that put White House checks first.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI want Britain to become one of the hardest countries in the world to attack using artificial intelligence,\u201d Narayan said in a speech in London.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_changed\"><\/span>What changed<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Last month, the White House\u00a0asked OpenAI and Anthropic\u00a0to hold new models back from UK testers until US officials had checked them. Anthropic did not share its Mythos model with the institute, Bloomberg reported.<\/p>\n<p>The Telegraph first reported the U-turn and said Narayan had lobbied for it. Narayan credited the recent\u00a0King Charles summit\u00a0for bringing ministers and tech bosses together.<\/p>\n<p>Pressed on whether the deal would last, he was careful.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWhen you\u2019re reliant on someone else\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a>, you have to be clear-eyed about the permanence of any outcome,\u201d Narayan told Bloomberg.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He said he was \u201cvery confident\u201d the UK would be able to test the latest models.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_new_task_force\"><\/span>A new task force<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Narayan also set up a task force to guard UK government systems from AI-driven attacks. He said two pilots had used frontier AI to find more than 1,000 possible weak spots.<\/p>\n<p>Set up in 2023, the institute is the best-funded government body that regularly tests frontier models, according to Bloomberg.
