\n New Yorkers should take special note of one part of the Senate report on Hunter Biden\u2019s shady business dealings \u2014 because one of his wealthy patrons got \u201ceconomic development\u201d tax breaks from our own Gov. Andrew Cuomo.<\/p>\n

Yes, the main implications are national: Hunter got millions from foreign sources while his dad was veep, and though Obama officials feared conflicts, they did nothing. Records \u201cshow potential criminal activity between Hunter Biden, his family and his associates\u201d and Ukrainian, Russian, Kazakh and Chinese nationals, the report says.<\/p>\n

And the younger Biden sent \u201cthousands\u201d to folks who\u2019ve been tied to \u201ctransactions consistent with human trafficking\u201d or have possible associations with the porn industry or prostitution. Ugly stuff.<\/p>\n

Yet New Yorkers may care most about the section noting that Hunter\u2019s firm, Rosemont Seneca Thornton, got $242,000 from Russian billionaire Elena Baturina, which it transferred to BAK USA \u2014 a Buffalo firm that raked in a quarter-million in tax breaks under Cuomo\u2019s START-UP NY scheme \u2014 and then went belly up.<\/p>\n

Rosemont, the report adds, got another $3.5 million from Baturina for unspecified \u201cconsulting,\u201d but it\u2019s not clear why Biden\u2019s firm was in the middle of payments from her to BAK; New Yorkers can only wonder if Hunter profited off a deal made possible by their tax dollars.<\/p>\n

More important, though, BAK is yet another example of Cuomo\u2019s failed AndyLand approach to upstate\u2019s economy: He picks winners (or at least politically connected firms) and showers them with public funds \u2014 in the hope they\u2019ll survive and grow jobs. Alas, many deals have simply flopped.<\/p>\n

Like the $90 million one with bulb-maker Soraa, for starters. And the $15 million \u201cfilm hub\u201d that sold for $1. And, of course, Tesla\u2019s troubled $750 million Buffalo plant .\u2009.\u2009.<\/p>\n

Indeed, the deals led to more corruption than jobs. Hmm: Maybe that\u2019s a clue to why a Biden was involved with one of them.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
