UPDATED 9\/24\/20 AT 7:00 PM ET <\/strong>Zack Snyder\u2018s\u00a0Justice League\u00a0<\/em>is reversing earlier claims that the upcoming HBO Max mini-series<\/a> would not include any newly shot footage. A report from the Hollywood Reporter<\/a> reveals that Snyder\u2019s project will be filming new footage, after all, and it sounds like the reshoot is turning out to be even more expensive than previously estimated.<\/p>\n

According to The Wrap<\/a>, production on Snyder\u2019s new Justice League\u00a0<\/em>will cost about $70 million, bringing the budget to more than twice the original number. Instead of crafting the new cut with special effects, the cast of the original film will now return for a full week of additional filming with the director.<\/p>\n

Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Ray Fisher as Cyborg will all star in the new\u00a0Justice League,\u00a0<\/em>but Fisher\u2019s app<\/a>earance is especially noteworthy after his claims against Joss Whedon. The actor previously accused the\u00a0Justice League\u00a0<\/em>film director of \u201cgross, abusive\u201d and \u201cunprofessional\u201d behavior on set of the original movie, but he\u2019s now signed on to appear in Snyder\u2019s cut and return to the Cyborg role.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Collider<\/a> today, Cavill told the outlet that he\u2019s \u201cnot shooting anything additional\u201d for the Snyder Cut. \u201cIt\u2019s all stuff that has been already done,\u201d he said. \u201cObviously I don\u2019t know how things are going to evolve and change and adapt depending on now a different length of movie and whatever may happen in post-production. Whatever lessons may be learned from what is it four years since Justice League<\/em> came out? Four years\u2019 worth of fan reaction. For me\u2026I\u2019m now just watching the party.\u201d<\/p>\n

Back in May, former Head of HBO Max Bob Greenblatt hinted at the cost of Snyder\u2019s Justice League,<\/em> but he never mentioned a price tag as high as $70 million. During an appearance on the\u00a0Recode Media podcast<\/a>, Greenblatt called the Snyder Cut \u201ccomplicated and wildly expensive\u201d but declined to give specific figures.\u00a0When host host Peter Kafka pressed the HBO Max boss, dropping the numbers $20 and $30 million, Greenblatt replied, \u201cYeah, I\u2019ll just say I wish it was just $30 million. I\u2019ll stop there, but it\u2019s an enormous undertaking and very complex.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Snyder Cut of\u00a0Justice League\u00a0<\/em>is set to premiere on HBO Max in 2021 as a four-episode limited series. The new project comes after years of campaigning by disappointed fans of Whedon\u2019s Justice League\u00a0<\/em>film, which premiered in 2017 and was considered a flop by audiences and critics. Snyder, who had to step down from the original film due to a family tragedy, is coming back to recreate his vision with the new mini series.<\/p>\n

When reached for comment about the new $70 million figure, an HBO rep declined to comment to Decider.
