By year eight my braces will be off, and then in high school I\u2019m going to learn how to put on makeup.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Uwu Tofu is pictured in an undated photo. The beauty content creator plans her holidays around visits to 24-hour Korean spas and spends thousands on skincare and beauty treatments. <span class=\"credit\">Jam Press\/@iamuwutofu<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Now, the content creator is hooked on Korean beauty and wellness, often flying 1,435 miles across the country to her favorite LA spa and maintaining a long wish list of skincare products.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, she\u2019s tried everything from Rejuran injections to radiofrequency microneedling, ultrasound lifting and facial contouring treatments. A salmon sperm facial left her crying and clenching her hands in pain, but wanting more.<\/p>\n<p>Tofu estimates spending between $2,000 and $3,000 a month on Korean skincare, spa visits and beauty treatments.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d be lying if I said my teenage insecurities didn\u2019t still fuel my obsession with beauty today,\u201d said Tofu, who has 575,000 followers on Instagram (<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/iamuwutofu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@iamuwutofu<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut now I want to enhance the features I already have and maintain my skin health as I get older.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After watching beauty tutorials on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a> as a kid, Tofu developed her own aesthetic and became particularly interested in Korean skincare.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cI remember in seventh grade, when I felt my ugliest, I thought, \u2018I\u2019m going to make a business plan on aesthetic improvements so that by the time I hit college I\u2019m going to be the hottest person ever,\u2019 \u201cTofu said. <span class=\"credit\">Jam Press\/@iamuwutofu<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She is constantly researching products but tries to finish each bottle in six months before buying another, partly to avoid waste and partly because she once learned the hard way what can h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en when products expire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have used expired skincare before, thinking it was no big deal. No \u2014 my face broke out,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Her three favorite affordable products are Birch Moisturizing Sunscreen UVLock SPF 45, Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Moisture Cream and the pink Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKorean skincare has always worked better for me. I grew up with Asian beauty standards as an Asian-American, and looking like a K-pop idol was always the goal,\u201d Tofu explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey keep my skin hydrated and protected from the sun, which is what I care about most. Protecting your skin from UV rays is one of the best ways to maintain youthful-looking skin.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Tofu\u2019s \u201cperfect\u201d spa day \u201cstarts with getting naked and soaking in the hot tub, followed by a Korean body scrub.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Jam Press\/@iamuwutofu<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Her obsession also extends to Korean wellness.<\/p>\n<p>Whenever she visits LA, Tofu likes to spend her downtime at <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/wispausa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wi Spa<\/a>, a Korean spa open 24 hours a day.<\/p>\n<p>For a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/wispausa.com\/product-category\/entrance-passes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$35 day pass<\/a>, visitors can use hot tubs, a cold plunge and wet and dry saunas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy perfect day starts with getting naked and soaking in the hot tub, followed by a Korean body scrub. Then I go into the wet sauna, the dry sauna and finally the cold tub,\u201d she described.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter that, I head upstairs for kalbi \u2014 Korean short ribs \u2014 and a green juice. Then I visit the jade room and the ice room before having a nap for several hours.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cI grew up with Asian beauty standards as an Asian-American, and looking like a K-pop idol was always the goal,\u201d Tofu said. <span class=\"credit\">Jam Press\/@iamuwutofu<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n\t<\/aside>\n<p>Tofu\u2019s beauty experiments can be considerably less relaxing.<\/p>\n<p>She recently tried a salmon sperm facial, where the fish\u2019s DNA was applied to her skin during microneedling.<\/p>\n<p>After 30 minutes of numbing cream, the device was passed across her face \u2014 an experience she compares to being tattooed. She rated it an \u201ceight or nine out of 10\u201d on the pain scale.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cImagine getting your face tattooed. It even sounds like a tattoo needle. When it was on my cheeks, I was like, \u2018OK, it\u2019s fine,\u2019 but once it started going into places where the numbing cream was either thin or not there, I was like, \u2018I\u2019m getting stabbed,\u2019 \u201d Tofu said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen it went to my hairline, I was literally clenching my hands like I was praying and I started crying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She refused to have the device passed over her lips, after being warned that area would be particularly painful.<\/p>\n<p>She said she shelled out $778 for the hour-long Rejuran treatment with microneedling.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the pain and the two-week recovery, Tofu says she was pleased with her complexion a little over a week later.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI like the results. My skin tone is a lot more even and places where I would usually have redness, it\u2019s definitely not there,\u201d she said. \u201cNow I literally wake up with a glow, it\u2019s amazing.
