“#Ex-Cambridge Analytica CEO gets 7-year directorship ban<\/strong>”

\n The disgraced former Cambridge Analytica CEO has been banned from running limited\u00a0companies in the UK for seven years for letting staff offer\u00a0unethical services.<\/span><\/p>\n

The British government\u2019s Insolvency Service said<\/a> Alexander Nix, had permitted Cambridge Analytica\u2018s parent firm SCL Elections and its affiliated companies to offer prospective clients a dizzying range of unscrupulous services. They included \u201cbribery or honey trap stings, voter disengagement campaigns, obtaining information to discredit political opponents, and spreading information anonymously in political campaigns.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Mark Bruce, Chief Investigator for the Insolvency Service, said SCL Elections had repeatedly offered shady political services over a number of years:<\/p>\n

Company directors should act with commercial probity and this means acting honestly and correctly. Alexander Nix\u2019s actions did not meet the app<\/a>ropriate standard for a company director and his disqualification from managing limited companies for a significant amount of time is justified in the public interest.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Nix<\/span>\u00a0told Reuters<\/a> he hadn\u2019t admitted any wrongdoing nor been accused of breaking the law, but had accepted the disqualification to \u201cavoid an unnecessary, lengthy and expensive court case\u201d.<\/p>\n

SCL Elections and the five connected companies ceased\u00a0trading in 2018 after the Cambridge Analytica scandal drove away their clients.<\/span><\/p>\n

The political consultancy had harvested data from up to\u00a087 million Facebook<\/a> users, which was used<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0target US voters with personalized ads that helped Donald Trump\u2018s 2016 presidential campaign.<\/p>\n

Nix was later caught on camera<\/a> saying\u00a0the firm could use sex workers, bribes, ex-spies, and fake IDs to assist election campaigns around the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cSend some girls around to the candidate\u2019s house,\u201d Nix said in one exchange, adding that Ukrainian women \u201care very beautiful, I find that works very well.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Insolvency Service didn\u2019t reveal whether the companies had ever performed any of these services when announcing Nix\u2019s ban, which comes into effect on October 5. We\u2019ll be keeping an eye out for his next move.<\/p>\n
