Firstly, \u201cThere\u2019s a movement away from <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a> influence,\u201d Skurnik said. \u201cPeople understand wedding design from Pinterest and TikTok, but want to get away from the algorithms. Going vintage provides a way to have a \u2018one-of-one\u2019 wedding \u2014 something no one else has.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And, for Gen Z, \u201cVintage is a way they shop in their everyday life. With the rise of online platforms \u2014 for renting clothes from other people\u2019s closets and re-sale items \u2014 it\u2019s very commonplace,\u201d Skurnik.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Vintage bridal is having a defining moment, Elizabeth von der Goltz, chief revenue officer at Poshmark, said.<\/p>\n<p>Searches for \u201cwhite vintage gowns\u201d has surged, which von der Goltz said is \u201ca shift toward one-of-a-kind, archival-inspired wedding looks. Brides are increasingly choosing pieces with history \u2014 driving <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a>le-digit growth across vintage gowns, veils, and shoes,\u201d as per the style report.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cVintage white dresses\u201d are all the rage. <span class=\"credit\">As Time Goes By Bridal<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Some brides are upcycling vintage wedding dresses that are heirlooms, said Christine Carlson, owner of <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/maybellenyc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maybelle Atelier<\/a> in Maplewood, NJ.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of people come in with their mother or grandmother\u2019s wedding dress wanting it as their dance dress for their \u2018second look\u2019 on their wedding day,\u201d said Carlson, a former bridal and couture designer. \u201cI charge for an heirloom reimagining session (90 minutes for $300) and produce three hand-drawn sketches. It takes four to six months in advance to go from drawing to finished product.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Vintage jewelry is in hot demand. <span class=\"credit\">Sinch and Such<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On one occasion, a woman contacted Carlson to donate her mother\u2019s Priscilla of Boston wedding dress from 1967.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe wanted to see it have another life,\u201d said Carlson. \u201cI cleaned it and modernized the silhouette by cutting off the sleeves, lowering the back, adding straps and fun pockets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was spotted on Instagram by Lauren Pishna, who \u201cwas obsessed and made an <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointment to see it,\u201d said Carlson. \u201cShe tried it on, started crying, bought it, and wore it to her own wedding this past August.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Lauren Pishna wore a 1967 wedding dress from Maybelle Atelier. <span class=\"credit\">Steph Smith Photo<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Pishna\u2019s gown refitted by proprietor Christine Carlson. <span class=\"credit\">Courtesy Steph Smith<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Sara Kaplan is the owner of <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aidelvintage.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aidel Vintage<\/a> in Lawrence, NY, a second-hand and vintage boutique that focuses on unique, mint-condition, designer-quality clothing.<\/p>\n<p>She primarily serves an Orthodox Jewish clientele, for which modest fashion is the norm, and where a wedding isn\u2019t a single moment but a sequence of halachic and celebratory events.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re outfitting 17 to 75 year-olds looking for gowns and attire for these and surrounding events,\u201d said Kaplan. \u201cWhile custom clothing is time-consuming and expensive, our gowns start at $250 and cost up to $500.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Besides a better price point, \u201cthe thrill of the hunt is real. People want to dress beautifully and don\u2019t want to wear the same thing as others. We put new merchandise out every 20 minutes,\u201d said Kaplan.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Etsy is a modern go-to for wedding goodies.  <span class=\"credit\">Jingyu Lin<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Vintage elements and details also make the wedding day feel personal, said Dayna Isom Johnson, trend expert for <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.etsy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Etsy<\/a>. Searches for vintage jewelry are up 75 percent over the last three months compared to the previous year. \u201cFinding that one-of-kind piece is also a sustainable way of giving a product new life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Michelle Elaine, owner of <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/michelle-elaine.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michelle Elaine Weddings<\/a>, a Northeast wedding planner, is also noticing an increase in the use of family treasures such as rings, pocket squares and cufflinks, teacups, vases, tiered cake stands and silver trays that have been passed down through generations.<\/p>\n<p>Choice of venue is key when creating old-world-charm and atmosphere, said Elaine.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignleft\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI used the purse my mother used on her wedding day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><cite>Abigail Lama<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Some of her recommended area examples include the Salmagundi Club, the Morgan Library and Museum and Lotte New York Palace in Manhattan, which she said feels like someone\u2019s rich grandmother\u2019s house. In Brooklyn, the Weylin steps you back into the 1920\u2019s and the Foundry in Long Island City gives Bridgerton vibes, she added.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail Lama and Kyle Johnstone, 32 and 33 respectively, now residing in Brooklyn, went for a classic New York-themed wedding last November.<\/p>\n<p>The couple had their ceremony in Central Park, with a jazz trio playing classic tunes as they walked down a makeshift aisle at the Glade Arch historic stone bridge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI used the purse my mother used on her wedding day,\u201d said Lama, whose rehearsal dinner outfit was made from her mother\u2019s wedding dress.<\/p>\n<p>While the couple had both film and digital photographers, a Super 8 style video was used to shoot the celebration for an old school home-video aspect.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wanted to capture the day with an unstaged, back-in-the-day feeling,\u201d said Lama.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
